McCain calls for G8 boycott of Russia
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=771c3add0b461927
U.S. Sen. John McCain has called for the Group of Eight nations to boycott an upcoming G8 meeting in Russia, saying Russia is in pursuit of autocracy.

Speaking at the Munich Conference on Security Policy, an annual meeting of defense and foreign ministers and security experts, the Arizona Republican criticized Russia's deteriorating record on human rights under President Vladimir Putin, the International Herald Tribune reported Sunday.

"Under Mr. Putin, Russia today is neither a democracy nor one of the world's leading economies, and I seriously question whether the G8 leaders should attend the St. Petersburg summit" in June, he said.

McCain said it was time to take Putin to task over his human rights record and his moves against press freedom and against non-governmental organizations.

4. Glad to see John flexing his xenophobic muscles.
Gotta pander to the reactionaries. A real moderate Republican here. Here's a clue, John, look in the mirror.

5. Search & Replace?
"Russia today is neither a democracy nor one of the world's leading economies ..."

It's time to "take Putin to task over his human rights record and his moves against press freedom ..."

Replace 'Russia' with 'United States', replace 'Putin' with 'Bush', and those would be truly accurate statements.

6. Much of what is going on in Russia is troubling.
Its a shame we have lost the moral authority to criticize it.
