Attorney General Hits the Press for Reminding Terrorists That, Maybe, the U.S. Might Be Watching Them

NEW YORK In his lengthy appearance today before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee probe of the domestic spying dispute, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales took several opportunities to criticize the press for using the term "domestic spying program" and for leaking information about the warrantless eavesdropping.

The exchange follows.
*

BIDEN: General, how has this revelation damaged the program? I'm almost confused by it but, I mean, it seems to presuppose that these very sophisticated Al Qaida folks didn't think we were intercepting their phone calls.

I mean, I'm a little confused. How did it damage this?

GONZALES:

...

I think, based on my experience, it is true -- you would assume that the enemy is presuming that we are engaged in some kind of surveillance. But if they're not reminded about it all the time in the newspapers and in stories, they sometimes forget....

BIDEN: Well, I hope you and my distinguished friend from Alabama are right, that they're that stupid and naive because we're much better off if that's the case.

1. I think Biden pretty well nailed it on this one...
Does Shrubco REALLY think that Al Qaeda doesn't think we're listening in on their conversations? Do they REALLY think we're that stupid?

4. Al Qaeda managed to transfer funds without it being noticed
I suppose they could also communicate on the phones and internet without getting caught. That is what is troubling here. Just what a terrorist is has never been very clearly defined. Nor has Al Qaeda. So just who they are targeting i unclear. Then what kind of language or codes or whatever they are sorting for kind of vague. What kind of net could they have that would catch actual terrorists? This whole terrorist thing is becoming a runaway witch hunt. The whole idea of these terrorists is to keep under the radar. It's the ordinary people who aren't terrorists who make jokes or just express their opinions or who use language carelessly who will get caught in this net. This is ridiculous. I bet lots of people talked to the actual 9/11 terrorists without the slightest clue as to what those guys were up to. And I'll bet that most of their communications didn't reveal in the slightest way their plans. They probably had very few telecommunications that could have identified them. And there are billions of telecommunications in a day.

5. Gonzales knows his history...
Alberto: President Washington, President Lincoln, President Wilson, President Roosevelt have all authorized electronic surveillance on a far broader scale.

Wow. I had no idea electronics technology was so old...

8. The guy is no more effective
than 'Scotty' McClellen. The Dem contingent including Feingold, Schumer Durbin and Leahy was powerful. Orin Hatch did his usual butt kissing. Apparently, as usual, he believes politics comes before ethics and the law.

20. George Washington did ask Benjamin Franklin to discover electricity
so he could use it for electronic surveillance. Really. That's what the kite and string thing was all about. Really. It didn't work, so Washington dropped the idea. Really.

Alberto was only partially correct.

Really.

;)

10. once again, abu gonzales uses the bowery boys technique at...
catching terrorists. what a fucking jerk.

Abu gonzales: (thinks to himself) So I'll just sit here for a moment, making like I'm minding my own business and when those lazy terrorists think I'm not looking, they will do something and think that I have dropped my guard, but in reality, I will be watching them out of the corner of my eye, yeah, that's it, out of the corner of my eye. They would never suspect that, yeah, never. My master plan, yeah, I'll be sitting over here counting my beans and they will be thinking, "oh look, stupid Americans, counting beans, while we cook up another plan", yeah, but I'll be looking at them from the corner of my eye, that's it, I'm a regular genius. Nothing could possible top this idea. Nothing at all...

In stumbles a reporter...

reporter: hey, everyone what's going on??? Hey terrorists, did you know that this guy over here that appears to be counting the beans, is actually looking at you out of the corner of his eye? Yeah, get that, can you believe it?

Terrorists: Wow what a tricky evil American pig dog devil, here we thought the whole time they were counting beans and all this time, they were actually looking at us out of the corner of their eye!! What a sinister plot! We must never let our guard down. I would have never ever thought of that in a million years!!!

Holy Jesus on a trampoline! each and everyday I find a new and creative way to hate these spying mother fuckers. abu should rot in hell and have the pox oh his house.

16. Ummm.... The NSA is currently being sued...
by the ACLU and several other groups that are trying to force the issue through the courts. I believe I also saw in some of the statements not only that it is illegal, but that the BFEE, NSA, Pentagon (CIFA) et al need to cease and desist...

17. fuck that little oreo beaner dip shit lick spittle
has it occurred to anyone in government that perhaps the bad guys have figured out all on their own that the phone is tapped? They can beat the NSA at their own game. You know how? It's called pen and paper, it's called a human messenger. It's called a cut-out, it's called very basic espionage trade craft. Remove the electronic element and go to basic shoe leather communication. If a dumb ass like me can figure it out, what the fuck is wrong with the NSA? You know why they decided to piss on FISA? Because the NSA and CIA are being used for domestic political spying and even the rubber stamps at FISA might choke on that. God Damn, people, wake the fuck up!
