White House wants states to track drugs
White House drug czar John Walters wants more states to track people who get multiple prescriptions of frequently abused drugs, a report said Wednesday.

The national anti-drug strategy Walters announced would prod 20 states and the District of Columbia to set up databases to track drugs such as OxyContin and Vicodin, USA Today reported.

President George Bush's proposed fiscal 2007 budget includes $9.9 million to help establish state drug registries, already adopted in 28 states.

States likely to consider registries include Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Vermont and Washington, said an aide to Walters.

15. exactly
An extension of the war on pain patients, because, oh my goodness, some teenager might steal granny's vicodin. And gods forbid the cancer patient be taking morphine as well as using fentanyl. Or need a refill when they accidently spill half the bottle down the drain.

As for people who want to abuse drugs and live life in a fog--that's their choice. I don't see why everyone else should be punished in order to try to control a bunch of knuckleheads who would drink kerosene if they think it will give them a high.

6. Unbelievable!
I personally know people that are prescribed those meds listed...and they take them within the prescription parameters. Next thing I know, I'll be visiting them in fucking jail. Total waste of MY MONEY and that infuriates me. Can't help those in NOLA or pay for fucking body armor but we can spend money tracking something LEGAL....how much more chaos can these idiots create??????:wtf:

9. Another justification for domestic surveillance...
watching people legally obtain medications, but 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge' granny might be a junkie and therefore puts us all at risk for homeland neerdowellisms.

12. One of our many
Wars on something or other. How, I wonder, do the drug companies feel about this? I guess it doens't matter to them since they don't get profits on the resale. There's the problem: the drug companies want in on the bonanza from selling these illegally.

13. Typical gop AND dea BULLSHIT. The DEA should meth cooks be dissolved.
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 06:02 PM by Pepperbelly
It is far eaiser and safer for these soul-less fucks to harrass people with chronic pain and doctors than meth cooks. The whole agency should be burned to the ground and the ground alted to keep it from ever growin back.
