Homeless man listed critical after beating by 3 in Riviera Beach

RIVIERA BEACH -- A homeless man was in critical condition Thursday after being severely beaten by three suspects at a convenience store pay phone, police said.

Thomas Kotowski, 36, was found bloody and nearly unconscious Tuesday night outside the H&M Discount Beverage Store, Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said. He remained hospitalized.

Authorities were looking for three suspects, described as young men or teenagers. No motive had been established.

The attack follows the Jan. 12 beating death of a homeless man in the Fort Lauderdale area. Three teenagers have been indicted on murder charges in that case. Brian Hooks and Thomas Daugherty, both 18, of Plantation, and William Ammons, 17, of Fort Lauderdale, also face charges of attempted murder in the beatings of two other homeless men.

15. Many have suffered varying degrees of abuse

and not turned into animals, in fact quite the opposite has happened in many instances. From their own pain, some have learned compassion for others. My guess is these beasts were likely spoiled rotten brats with parents who often covered for or defended their own simply because of an accident of birth. I have seen this happen when teachers or other authority figures have attempted to help/intervene in the lives of bullies who exhibit anti-social behaviors...The "not my sweet son" denial sets in, and society is left to deal with the monsters that this kind of non-reasoned response engenders. I hope they get their butts kicked sideways while serving time for their abject cruelty. What sorry excuses for humanity our culture is producing.:mad: :puke:
