1. Pile 'em high and then higher

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

3. HOW MANY MORE GEORGIE, HOW MANY MORE?

WHEN A SOLDIER MAKES IT HOME

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier packs his memories
As he leaves Afghanistan
And back home they don't know too much
There's just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

And there won't be any victory parades
For those that's coming back
They'll fly them in at midnight
And unload the body sacks
And the living will be walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seems to care these days
When a soldier makes it home

They'll say it wasn't easy
Just another job well done
As the government in Kabul falls
To the sounds of rebel guns
And the faces of the comrades
Being blown out of the sky
Leaves you bitter with the feeling
That they didn't have to die

Halfway around the world tonight
In a strange and foreign land
A soldier unpacks memories
That he saved from Vietnam
Back home they didn't know too much
There was just no way to tell
I guess you had to be there
For to know that war was hell

And there wasn't any big parades
For those that made it back
They flew them in at midnight
And unloaded all the sacks
And the living were left walking down
A long and lonely road
Because nobody seemed to care back then
When a soldier made it home

The night is coming quickly
And the stars are on their way
As I stare into the evening
Looking for the words to say
That I saw the lonely soldier
Just a boy that's far from home
And I saw that I was just like him
While upon this earth I roam

And there may not be any big parades
If I ever make it back
As I come home under cover
Through a world that can't keep track
Of the heroes who have fallen
Let alone the ones who won't
Which is why nobody seems to care
When a soldier makes it home

-Arlo Guthrie

How is Ben? I hope he is making good progress.

Why don't you go over there and hold up a sign?

We have to let these fuckers know where ever they go they are not
wanted and we know they are evil.

Good for you, for going, and for the sign. Have a drink for me. I hope Ben continues to be restored to health, and that he never, ever, has to be placed in harm's way again.

17. Big Deal, nobody cares
The S/Sgt in Gunner Palace said it best, "Once you turn this movie off you'll forget me."

Unless, someone has a family member over there, most Americans don't care or allow themselves to be distracted very, very, very easily... (Ohhhh, look what Paris Hilton wore to the Grammy's, Ohhhh look what Brittney Spears did with her Baby)

Sorry, feeling rather cynical today.

a few weeks ago. I had been wanting to see it, and then I found it at my video store (which btw, has almost any movie you'd wanna watch). And that line really hit me hard.

21. Sheeler These Are My Brothers and Sisters Dying
Anyone who has followed my campaign knows I marched in DC and I was among thousands of veterans who opposed this war. It'll be three years in March that we have been to war at the loss of 2,260 lives and $240 billion dollars (accounted for). It was lying about links to 9/11, then WMD, then deposing a dictator we put there, which ended with Mission Accomplished. If we had begun withdrawals then, there would be over 1,700 families who would have their loved ones with us and we could be looking at funds for better health care and better education and a stronger economy. It is for these and so many other reasons, we must Impeach Bush and his cabal of corruption so we can end this needless sacrifice of American lives and unite our country.

Please help us do this.

Carl
