DNC: Americans Lose Faith in President Bush
http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20060210/pl_usnw/dnc__americans_lose_faith_in_president_bush123_xml

"WASHINGTON, Feb. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Democratic National Committee:

This week, the White House's lack of credibility and failure to be truthful was on display once again. The Bush Administration continues to stonewall, withhold information and refuses to offer answers on a host of issues. From stonewalling on his secret spying program, to refusing to investigate the misuse of intelligence on Iraq and his Administration's disastrous mishandling of the response to Hurricane Katrina and his vague answers about his relationship with indicted Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, President Bush's credibility is in tatters. As a result, the American people have lost faith in President Bush's ability to effectively lead the country and keep our country safe.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on President Bush's inability to tell the truth to the American people:

"The President's inability to tell the truth to the American people is bad for America and has weakened our country. We need a President who is tough on our enemies and honest with the American people. Having lost all credibility with the American people, the Bush Administration simply cannot effectively lead the nation. This continuous pattern of cover-ups, deceit and stonewalling is reminiscent of the dark days of Richard Nixon, leading every American to question what the Bush Administration is hiding. Democrats remain committed to open and honest leadership and will continue to press for answers."

2. that works for me. the inability to tell the truth pretty clearly calls
bush a chronic liar and saying they cant lead, asking what they are hiding and comparing bush to nixon prettu much is a call for investigation and impeachment.

now to find a few honest republicans in congress.

16. I still have faith in Bush...
I've had faith that he will royally fuck up anything he touches -- and so far he always has!

6. I love how he's pounding on the credibility issue.
Credibility, competence, and corruption - the 3 big problems for BushInc.

Too bad the media protects the Bushboy so much or people wouldn't have had to have a category 5 hurricane force their eyes open.

7. That's where we need to hit--security
We're a weaker nation because of Bush's lies and cronyism. Bush is so weak on security, he thinks oceans used to protect us. Oceans? Good grief. Why do we need cargo inspectors at our ports? The ocean will protect us, right?

George W. Bush--weak on logic, weak on the truth, weak on security.

10. Yes, it does matter immensely.
We won't have the power to impeach unless we win back the House this year.

But it matters a great deal that we stay on the offense.

11. It is "reminiscent" of nixon but
it's also "reminiscent" of hitler and his nazi regime.

With a free press bush would be or on the way to being Impeached by now..with all the lies and manipulation they've rained on our country.

I admire Dean for his control..I know he must be freakin' like the rest of us are with all the rampant duplicity and incompentency in our country's government and corporate press.

12. That's all well and good- but
Have they (or will they) gain faith in the Democratic party?

Not if things proceed the way they've been going the last 3 weeks.

Therein lies the problem.

14. They might if Democrats would stop tearing each other down.
And work together for change. I agree with calling offices of congressmen and having my say. I am not that happy with the way some vote at all, and I tell them so. But we are hurting ourselves a lot doing this.

15. Voting with the opposition repeatedly
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 09:05 PM by depakid
is what's tearing the party down. That would tear any party down, and create a schism that could and often does result in increasing 3rd party membership and/or demoralizes the base to the point where contributions and in kind services dry up.

That's Poly Sci 101.

The trouble with unity stems from the lack of a coherent set of policies- especially ones that are consistent with logical and popular positions on the issues and uphold traditional Democratic values.

So long as it's difficult to contrast Republican positions from Democratic positions- the Democrats will lose. That's been the case in the last 6 Congressional elections- and I don't see any evidence that it's changed- or will change in 2006.

I am, accordingly, not optimistic that, absent some deus ex machina (devine intervention or unforseen event) the Dems will do any better this fall.

I wish that weren't so-
