Kurds won't aid govt if Allawi's bloc not in cabinet: Talabani
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said today that his Kurdish coalition will not support the next Iraqi government if the political party led by ex-Prime Minister Ayad Allawi is not brought into the cabinet.

"I stressed to the American Ambassador on the necessity of forming a national unity government in which no one will be excluded, especially (Allawi's) Iraqi (national) list," Talabani told reporters after meeting US Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad.

"The Iraqi list has to take part in the coming government. The Kurdish coalition will not take part in the coming government unless the Iraqi list takes part in it."

Allawi, a secular Shiite who enjoys US support, has been touted for a key Cabinet portfolio, possibly the Interior Minister which controls Iraq's security forces. His bloc won only 25 of Parliament's 275 seats in the December 15 polls.

1. Poor misguided Kurds.
When all is said and done they are bound to end up
with nothing.

2. If the Shi'ite religious parties, the Kurds and Allawi form a coalition
then they can appointe the president without any help from the Sunni religious parties. It seems the Kurds prefer a secular Shi'a to a Sunni Arab - possibly because the arguments about the population of the cities on the border of the Kurdish regions are with Sunnis rather than Shi'as.

3. The US will never allow the Kurds what they want
As Turkey falls so fall the Kurds.
All this plotting and planning will be for naught.

4. The Kurds have their own militia as well as over 50 seats in parliment
They aren't going to get pushed around by anyone or else they will bail and make their own state.

5. Turkey will never allow them their own state
And the US will ALWAYS back Turkey.
Eventually the Kurds will push for Kurdistan
and that is when the fun begins.
Like I said: poor Kurds, so close yet so very far.

7. And neither will the Shias in Iraq or Iran allow the Kurds their own state
The late Shah of Iran persecuted the Kurds in his country, just as brutally as Saddam persecuted the ones in his.

The Shias will never allow the Kurds to form their own country, taking the oil with them.

14. You and me both...
I've never considered the future as dangerous as it is right now, thanks to the Bush cabal and their insane PNAC ideas.

12. The 1920 Treaty of Sevres was their one and last chance
Mountain Kurds they always will be.
Perhaps I should not but I do feel bad for them.
Again and again they are made hopeful just to see
their dream of Kurdistan evaporate.

6. rummy paid a visit to Allawi yesterday....
Hmmmm...

Left to right: Former Iraqi Defense Minister Hazem al-Shaalan, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, and former Iraqi Interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, right, leave the Prime Minister's office after a meeting, in central Baghdad, Iraq Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. Secular and tough-minded, Ayad Allawi seems the perfect U.S. choice to run Iraq's security forces. But many fellow Shiites have never forgiven Allawi for decisions taken when he was prime minister and seem ready to fight to keep him on the political sidelines. (AP Photo/Khalid Mohammed, File)

10. Alla wi in the government
The people of Iraq didn't give Allawi enough votes to be part of the government. so much for democracy. it sounds like the U.S has there hands in this to get Allawi a say in the government when the people who voted rejected Allawi. remember the media before the election was telling us that Allawi was the odds on favorite to be Prime Minister.well that didn't happen so now the U.S is going to try some underhanded bullshit
