UN report on Iraq weapons must go to Security Council - Lavrov (Russia)
MOSCOW, February 13 (RIA Novosti) - A report from UN weapons' inspectors on whether Iraq has weapons of mass destruction must be sent to the UN Security Council, Russia's foreign minister said Monday.

"Individual issues remain that must be closed," Sergei Lavrov told Dimitrius Perricos, the acting executive chairman of the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), during a Moscow meeting.

The minister said all the materials collected by the commission and the authorities in Iraq should be referred in a summarized form to the UN Security Council.

Lavrov said all the inspections conducted in Iraq had uncovered no WMD components or programs to develop such weapons in the country, but added the matter remained serious in view of the increasing threat of the WMD proliferation.

4. He means Iraq.
Not that this has no relevance to the current Iran-related propaganda campaigns.

6. Yeah I figured that out.
Sort of odd that after all this time finally somebody gets the courage to ask exactly what happened to the UN weapons inspection that we aborted. Better late than never I suppose.

2. What country is going to be chairing the security council
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 10:18 AM by HereSince1628
when the matter comes up?

China.

Which has close ties with Iran.

Wanna bet this isn't going to prove to be another of those cases where "The UN won't act, so WE will?"

Wanna be that this isn't another case where Bush has already decided to pull the trigger?

3. no WMD components or programs
We know.

We most of us in the world knew before bush's invasion.

And both bush's pet rightwingnut weapons inspectors said NO "wmd" since 1991.

But bush was only fuckin' wit'cha on that "wmd" thang. It was really the OIL.

5. Article is quite clear that this is about IRAQ, not Iran
.
.
.

From the posted Article:

"The long-running UN weapons inspections have failed to provide any evidence of the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, which the United States cited as the main reason behind its military campaign in the country."

I hate to think that our ONLY hope to avert war might be Russian efforts.

Excellent point, Lavrov.

And when idiot Bolton stands up to speak, the chair can slap down the gavel and tell him,
'oh your're new, well according to the rules of this circle...we are still on 'old business', John, you'll just wait to until it's your turn with the 'talking stick', brother...the group is still venting'

So sit down, fuckwad and be prepared to answer some questions..or you'll be asked to LEAVE.
