Several hurt in Turkey shop blast (Kurds)
Several hurt in Turkey shop blast

At least 11 people have been hurt in Turkey in an explosion in front of a supermarket in the city of Istanbul.

Istanbul's Governor Muammer Guler said the blast was apparently caused by a bomb left outside the shop.

A Kurdish militant group has claimed responsibility for planting the device in the Bahcelievler suburb, the Kurdish news agency Firat reports.

The same group also claimed a blast in an internet cafe in Istanbul that killed one and injured 16 last week.

1. Now do you see why Saddam went after the Kurds?
They were trying to overthrow the government, break-off from Iraq, and take the oil with them. As many Kurds were killed by other Kurds as were killed by Saddam. Check out the intra-conflict history of the Kurds over the time Saddam was in power.

3. Let's pray that these remain relatively isolated incidents.
There were predictions that if we went into Iraq and upset the balance of power in the region, that there was a huge risk of the Kurdish push for independence spilling over into Turkey. Iran, too, for that matter.

6. Not only wrong, but having the exact opposite effect of what they wanted.
We've managed to strenthen the extremist mullahs in Iran, create a training ground for terrorists in Iraq, discredit the US in the eyes of the world...

I could go on...

4. Or are was it a CIA or Turkish operation acting like a Kurdish group?
Something to give justification for a crackdown on militant elements in the Kurdish terroritories?
