MSNBC -- Democratic bloggers abuzz over Hackett exit
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11345023/

Darn tootin' we're abuzz!!

WASHINGTON - The Democratic blogosphere was abuzz Tuesday with the news that one of its heroes, Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett, had dropped out of the Ohio Senate race.
...

The negative reaction to Hackett’s exit “will certainly pass, it may even pass before the next news cycle,” remarked Jennifer Duffy, an analyst with the non-partisan Cook Political Report.

“Hackett is the kind of candidate who illustrates that the blogs are loud, but not necessarily representative,” she added. “In this election cycle in particular, people are watching blogs and assigning them enormous importance that isn’t necessarily warranted.”

The Hackett episode showed that party leaders had decided it was worth risking the wrath of pro-Hackett bloggers in order to get the candidate they judged to be the stronger one.

A Challenge! We LOVE Challenges!!!

--------------------------
To contribute and Urge him to FILE ON THURS!!
Go to HACKETT for OHIO

He can always drop out later if he feels he must,
but we NEED him and need TIME to show him that he'll
get the support he needs

If he gets a deluge of mail, maybe he'll reconsider.

One can only hope.

7. Hope MANY others are doing the same!!

Even if he doesn't reconsider, MONEY talks. If a significant number of people make contributions (even very small ones) and call on him to stay in, it would be news -- and a demonstration of real power!

10. Who is this person? Who does she think 'bloggers' are, bumblebees?
She should be as well-respected and recognizable as many of the 'bloggers' she mentions, and she should have as big a readership as they do ~ millions of US citizens are what I presume she means by 'bloggers' ~

It was 'bloggers' who helped Paul Hackett nearly beat (actually I believe he did win) Schmidt, scaring the Republicans (and apparently Democrats) out of their wits.

For her information, 'bloggers' are real people, ordinary Americans, and I will NOT get over this ~ wishful thinking on her part, it seems.

12. Chalk another one up for Bush-lite.
While I wasn't impressed, Hackett still had too much of Dean in him for the oligarchy's tastes.

13. Why does MSNBC think this is news.
I've seen DU "abuzz" over lots of things lately. Why was this story picked up? Frankly, part of me is happy we got the attention, but I wonder whether corporate media relishes the idea that the Democratic Party sometimes angers its base. Or, perhaps they're fond of the idea, expressed here, that we're a small minority and not representative of the Party. Perhaps they're inviting the Party to ignore us.
