GOP Concerns About Cheney Grow
Feb. 15, 2006

http://cbs4.com/topstories/topstories_story_046101609.html

(CBS) There's growing grumbling within Republican ranks and within the White House itself over how Vice President Dick Cheney has handled the hunting mishap in which he accidentally shot a 78-year-old companion.

The shooting presents a new problem for the Bush administration as it seeks to repair damaged credibility in a midterm election year in which continued Republican control of Congress hangs in the balance.

His strong insistence that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction helped build the case for the U.S. invasion of Iraq. He also has been in the forefront for the administration in the National Security Agency's warrantless wiretapping program in the war on terror.

Still more recently, Cheney's indicted former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, testified to a grand jury about being authorized to disclose classified information to the press in the CIA leak case "by his superiors," according to court documents. Democrats have demanded to know whether Cheney was one of those superiors.

3. Wonder if they are going to use this as an excuse to throw him overboard.
The Plame case is getting attention again and he's being implicated in it. A few articles I've read in the past 2 days are saying that he operates in his own world, apart from the Administration, and how they have been unhappy about it. Interesting.

4. We must remember Dick does not have a real heart.
If Cheney is having problems dealing with all his health problems and his many political chores and his many many personality dilemma's? I suggest he should do the honorable Harri Kari thingie. You can bet that won't happen!

This gas bag doesn't have any guts.

See, that's the problem with this whole Cheney-Sepuku thing:
Are there any actual internal organs within this zombie
that would be damaged by the sword ripping open his abdomen?

18. That's what a real mensch would do
But Cheney doesn't qualify. Will the White House toss him overboard? There's a lot of crap coming down the pipeline with Cheney's name on it. This would provide a good pretext for Bush to ask for Cheney's resignation, if the White House is still considering its historic legacy. There are several obstacles, though: First, Cheney is widely suspected to be the boss in the political relationship between him and Bush. Second, Bush prizes loyalty above everything, and though Cheney has been a ham-fisted, secretive, loose cannon (you should pardon the expression) of a vice president, he's never displayed public disloyalty. Third, Cheney is, like his mentor Richard Nixon, a power vampire. Being in the seat of power nourishes and sustains him, and walking away from a plunder while there's still money in the vault goes against the most basic instinct of his nature. It could also cause grave health consequences for Cheney to have to give up power before he's darn good and ready.

Look for Cheney's statement to be long on obfuscation, excuse-making, and cloaked in the arrogance of power, and very, very short on contrition, explanation, or any other quality you would normally associate with a human being who has just shotgunned his friend in the face.

10. Bet Cheney bristled at the term "companion" - it's part of the homo
sexual agenda to cast him in that light, totally supported by by out of touch Hollywood and the evil librul media, of course.

13. Nooooooooo! If Cheney resigns, we'll have CONDI ... and then ....
it'll be like the Andromeda Strain ... "we'll never be rid of it." She'll have a good shot at the presidency for 8 years after bush leaves office.

ANYTHING BUT THAT!

Red state Republicans aren't about to elect Condi.

she's a... a... Heck, they claim they don't use

21. There's more to it than that....
why couldn't Cheney just have come out on Sunday and explained what happened? Or maybe even Monday when the press got involved?

Cheney is no amateur in politics. He's a seasoned veteran in Washington. He, if anybody, should have known what would happen when you make such a stupid move.

I know people are accusing him of being arrogant and out of touch - but - maybe it goes deeper than that. I just read on another article that Cheney has not given a press conference since 2002. He's like the Phantom of the Opera: the shadow man leading the shadow government which keeps screwing up all the time.

The article says that Cheney has a very poor PR image. People don't like him. His approval rating has hovered around 19% for a long time.

Remember how Bush scored lower in the ratings, every time he made a speech? Maybe it's even worse for Cheney.
