Cheney to Discuss Shooting on Fox
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Vice President Dick Cheney planned to break his silence Wednesday night in his first televised interview about the Texas hunting accident in which he shot a 78-year-old lawyer.

Cheney was to appear on Fox News Channel at 6 p.m. EST, the network and the White House announced. He hasn't spoken publicly about the accident Saturday that hospitalized Harry Whittington of Austin.

Whittington was listed in stable condition but will remain in a Corpus Christi hospital for about a week after suffering a mild heart attack when a shotgun pellet in his chest traveled to his heart.

no doubt some hard-hitting, "fair and balanced" questions will follow.

44. another mis-fire for Cheney
ok so he goes on FAUX news and is "interviewed" -- we can be pretty sure that any "questions" would be scripted, the "answers" as well -- is he too scared to face a press corp where perhaps REAL questions will be asked?

4 days after the shooting and now he shows his face -- that in itself is going to ring any sort of display of regret pretty hollow

not only that - but the "appearance" is taped and won't be shown in it's entirety until 4 hours later -- give them plenty of time to cut/paste/edit

big mistake - it's going to sound worse than Lott apologizing over and over and over again

23. LOL! Just as I predicted.
Brit Hume: "Wouldn't you say that the quail hunting industry is a boon to our economy?"

Cheney: "Why yes. (penguin quack) I'm sure you can understand how anyone who'd stand in my line of fire would be ... well, pretty suspect. Terrorist, you might even say."

Brit Hume: "So, by shooting that man, you were actually defending us from both economic collapse and terrorist attack. You're God's gift to the United States, sir."

33. Brit Hume has scoffed at the whole shooting story
as per Wolcott:

(snip)

…Brit Hume treated the last story last night with his usual lordly scoffing, only to run aground against the newest Fox all-star, Robert Novak, who said that this is serious and that it's troublesome for the White House because the coverup fits into the narrative of a secretive administration that feels it owes no one explanation. This afternoon the afternoon hosts on Fox brought Hume back for instant commentary following the doctors' press conference, and he was still being dismissive and shrugging about it, and the hosts clearly weren't buying it. They understood, as Hume refused to understand, that the words "heart attack," even prefaced with "minor," change the dynamic and deepen the significance of Cheney's misfire. The most ludicrous thing Hume said was that though this new information made Whittington's condition more serious, it didn't alter "the underlying facts of the case."

DeLay thousands (I forget the exact amount) for his interview with Brit with soft questions and no follow ups. More of the same. It will just provide Cheney with an opportunity to spread his spin and lies. Nothing will be learned! Nada!

37. Transcript (not really...)
Hume: Thanks for being here this morning, Mine Fur... Mr. Vice-President. So, you're an avid hunter-- is that correct?

VP: Yes it is, Britt. And I want to thank you for bringing up this point. I hunt small birds released from cages to feed my family, not for fun as the liberals and elite would have you believe.

Hume: Very good, Dic... Mr. Vice President. However, many of our viewers are concerned about a few things...

VP: Let me stop you right there, Brett. I've already sold my shares in Haliburton and...

Hume: No, no, Captain, My Capta... Mr. Vice President. We're here to ask you the hard hitting questions, such as what color was the cap you wearing, did you *really* shoot that many birds ("you're sooo freakin' awesome!") and can I go with you on your next He-Man Hunter's Expidition?

VP: Well, let's start with your first question: magenta. Always magenta. You bet I shot all those birds-- used a rubber-band gun on the first 550 of them! And for your last question: hey, man-- he was just a lawyer, fer chrissakes!

Hume: That wasn't the question, but I think we as the American people know all we need to know about this episode. In our next segment, we'll explore the insidious minds of liberals and call them bad names (Scroll: Liberals- American Terrorists, or Just Bad Americans?") This is Britt Hume and I'm Fairly Unbalanced....
