Rove Pushed Cheney To Talk

(CBS News) WASHINGTON President Bush's top political aide, Karl Rove, pushed Vice President Dick Cheney to speak publicly about shooting a fellow hunter, sources tell CBS News.

Rove worried the vice president's silence on the issue was becoming a political problem, CBS News chief White House correspondent Jim Axelrod reports.

...

But Borger reports it the incident has not hurt the president's relationship with Cheney, and a source told her the two are still close.

5. Hmmmm, I'm not sure I'm buyin that.
You see, when I read or listen to "news" stories, I have this bad habit of asking myself, "does that make sense"?

I listened to a panel discussion tonight on Hardball, and Tweety kept asking if anyone knew if Cheney spoke to the Pres in 4 days? It seems like he didn't! The general concesus is that Cheney doesn't care what anyone says or thinks about him, and he's just going to do what he wants. John Dean was also on KO tonight and he said he noticed a slight slip in something Cheney said today. He was talking about the WH and Karl Rove, and he said "Karl doesn't talk...then corrected himself and said Karl called Katherine". Dean believes that meant Karl doesn't talk to the VP side of the WH and the VP side of the WH doesn't speak to Karl.

The fact that Cheney didn't call Shrub to forewarn him about what news was about to break tells me this story makes more sense than the CBS report story above.

8. I think what he said was, "No, Karl talks to... I don't recall talking to
Karl."

It was odd, I was left with the impression that Rove was beneath him and used to deal with bush only. I'm not sure why, it was just a feeling.

7. If I were Cheney, who would be my first call? Karl "Piggly Wiggly" Rove.
This story smacks of Rove's attempt to maintain his "evil genius" image. He's neither. He lost control of this one. The media picked it up and he failed. Again. Frankly the only thing this man knows to do is manipulate the nation's religious.

Send him back to college. Maybe he'll finish this time.

17. Rove's ONLY concern..."a political problem"
There's not a single person in the White House, from the top on down, who gives a rat's ass if Whittington lives or dies.

"Compassionate Conservatism" in action, folks.

:grr:
