Are potential Islamic terrorists trying to get commercial driver's licenses (CDLs) and hazardous materials hauling certificates? You bet, they are. In droves.

The latest is the South Central Career Center Truck Training Program in West Plains, Missouri, near Kansas City. A whopping 60% (SIXTY PERCENT!) of those who took a CDL test there from May 2004 to December 2005 had Mid-East names. Hello? . . .

But I think racial profiling is very bad way to go without some other evidence of wrongdoing.

If there is any, it should be discoverable via an investigation prior to any arrests.

People coming to a new country do seem to pick professions pioneered in their ethnic communities.

Remember the sterotype of the Irish cop? Same for a lot of professions for new immigrants.

But if we're going to get all "petri-dish-under-the-microscope" about trucking licenses, let's be even handed about it.

Let's keep Ryder trucks out of the hands of White American right-wing Federal building bombers, too.

(Personally, I'm a little more concerned about those huge cargo carriers that are stacked in ports 10+ stories high, like near San Francisco/Oakland at the Port of Oakland.
