Wipe out death squads, British Army orders

I predict this won't work out well.

THE British Army has launched an operation against death squads and police corruption in southern Iraq.

Major Alex Wilson, of the seventh armoured brigade in Basra, said troops had detained five corrupt Iraqi officers despite protests and was trying to take death squads off the streets.

"If we get rid of some 40 to 50 key bad people, the other rank and file of the Basra police can be reformed into a strong security force," Major Wilson said.

The military had put in place a program that involved reforming policemen or punishing "those who refuse to reform and are part of assassination squads".
