Victim's statement
Harry Whittington, the lawyer who was shot by US Vice-President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident, has been discharged from hospital.

He told reporters he bore no ill will and felt "deeply sorry" for the trouble Mr Cheney and his family had faced.

Wearing a suit and tie and bearing the signs of apparent scarring on his upper right eyelid and neck, Mr Whittington told reporters no-one was to blame for the accident.

"We all assume certain risks in what we do, in what activities we pursue."

Speaking publicly for the first time since he was shot on 11 February, Mr Whittington, said "Accidents do and will happen, and that's what happened."

9. My daughter caught that when she watched the interview as well. She said

the news is saying it's probably just a slip of the tongue.

She doesn't even get much news except local and even she thinks things are not adding up right. Both of us were pondering what the odds are of a very successful lawyer who's been practicing for years having a slip like that is? Cheney's where abouts on Friday could be probably discovered with some DUers incredible tracking talants I would think.

The diagram in the 'investigation' report indicated that he was shot on the left side of torso and face.

Good to see that it was a thorough investigation.
