Feeney faces more scrutiny
February 20, 2006

WASHINGTON - Three members of Congress went on a golfing junket to Scotland with lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Two of them are under investigation.

The third is Rep. Tom Feeney of Florida.

Feeney, a Republican from the Orlando area, says he thought that a conservative think tank was paying for the 2003 trip that included a few rounds of golf at the legendary St. Andrews.

No one has accused Feeney of illegal activity, but in Washington, where one scandal after another has made headlines for months, anyone with connections to Abramoff comes under a cloud of suspicion.

Feeney, 47, has tried to move past the allegations but, in typical fashion for him, has shown little regret, or caution.

He kept going to Abramoff's Washington restaurant, Signatures, long after others stopped. He defended former majority leader Tom DeLay even after the Texas congressman was indicted. He let a private group pay for his trip to China last month even though many in Congress are avoiding such travel because of bad publicity over questionable trips.

2. I would love to see Feeney go down. That's the sob that during
the 2000 election mess vowed that it didn't matter what the courts said, Bush would get FL's electoral votes anyway. Down with Feeney!

4. Total sleazoid.....
Feeney is my congressman. My dislike for him goes back to when he was in the legislature the first time in the mid 1980s. He ran against a close friend of ours. He couldn't attack on the issues so he made veiled comments about the man's wife. When he got into the legislature he actually filed a bill to have Florida succeed from the union -- I guess he's never read the Constitution. A state legislator in Seminole County had to resign after a sex scandal and Feeney was asked to run for that seat. He didn't even live in Seminole County, he just rented a small apartment there! A few years ago when he was still in the legislator I made an appointment with his local office to meet with him in Tallahassee. I even confirmed the appointment. My husband and I drove to Tallahassee. When we got there, he "had a conflict". His aide wouldn't even take my business card. I hope they can pin something on him regarding Jack A.

5. Blast from the past
dirtbag number 6

Tom Feeney-
Why did Florida House Speaker Tom Feeney call a news conference last week to defend one of his top legislative aides against questions about her job? Well, to be honest we're not really sure. But since he did, we thought we'd give you a bit of background on the 27-year-old policy staffer, Bridgette A. Gregory. Miss Gregory has no college degree, no technical experience for her job, and used to work as a waitress at Hooters. She is paid $55,664 per year. She can't spell, including, in some cases, her own name. Her work duties have got nothing to do with her job description. Oh yes, and she's apparently been working on Feeney's congressional campaign from his Capitol office, which is illegal. But she has a lovely set of gams and according to Tom Feeney himself, is "underpaid." That's why he gave her a 13 percent raise last June in "appreciation for your exemplary work performance." He added, "Oh, Miss Gregory, I think you dropped your pen."
