Inmates describe hideous beating
Inmates describe hideous beating

Suspect allegedly was kicked, punched, shocked with Taser and head-slammed on concrete floor.

By ROBIN FITZGERALD
rfitzgerald@sunherald.com

GULFPORT - Jessie Lee Williams' face and voice haunt Paul McBee.

Nightmares, he said, have plagued him since the night of Feb. 4 when he watched from the Harrison County jail booking room as a deputy allegedly antagonized and assaulted Williams. A brawl erupted and, according to McBee, several officers became involved, but most backed off as a Taser (an electro-shock stun gun) subdued Williams.

Most, that is, except for the jailer who, according to McBee and other witnesses, instigated the fight. McBee described the jailer as a young, large white man with a green shamrock pin on his ballcap.

That jailer, according to McBee and other witnesses, continued to punch the slender Williams as multiple restraint devices were used:

• Repeated electro-shocks, the Taser held to his back.

• "Hog-tied" with handcuffs.

• A "spit" bag placed over his head with pepper spray spewed inside.

• A restraining blanket.

• A restraint chair with straps, also designed to immobilize.

"I wake up from nightmares hearing and seeing it," McBee said. "I hear him screaming. I hear him saying 'I quit

... please stop' over and over."

2. I hope the pig that did this monstrosity spends the rest of his life in
retirement at our lovely state housing facility at Parchman. Hopefully, he'll be shown just the same dignity and respect that he showed Jessie Lee Williams. That is, after serving a few years first as the "Sweetheart of the cell block".

6. That taser just jumped off the desk all by itself now, didn't it?
and slammed his head into the floor, and sprayed pepper spray into his spit bag...

Technology is amazing.

8. thank you.
However, I think the taser, in and of itself, encourages abuse. Cruel but "non-lethal", it says to the would-be abusive cop: hey, at least I didn't SHOOT him.

16. I have to admit
my entire outlook is colored by seeing someone get shot dead who would be alive if the cop had a taser (drunk driver with a machete). How many lives have tasers saved? Hard to tell.

It makes is easier for bad cops to be bad, and good cops to be better.

4. All cops need psychological evaluations!!!!!!!!
Police abuse has been going on and on and on. Recently in Milwaukee they started doing psych. eval. for new police. I think it should be done twice a year, and to the whole police force.

This type of thug behavior is still present in the minds of Cracker Cops

Who still love to kick the black man's ass.

And under the Chimpanzee this behavior is being silently encouraged.

35. Here is more Fascist Police Abuse
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 09:29 AM by saigon68

The first march occurred on "Bloody Sunday", March 7, 1965, when 600 civil rights marchers were attacked by state and local police with billy clubs and tear gas. In their first march, led by John Lewis and the Reverend Hosea Williams, they made it only as far as the Edmund Pettus Bridge, six blocks away. State troopers and the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, some mounted on horseback, awaited them. In the presence of the news media the lawmen attacked the peaceful demonstrators with billy clubs, tear gas, and bull whips, driving them back into Selma.

Just a little fraternity hazing </sarcasm>

5. A white cop beating on a black prisoner?
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 09:57 AM by alarcojon
These things don't happen any more, do they? :sarcasm:

This paragraph suggests how many more of these instances we never hear about...

"I'm usually very hesitant to take cases of alleged abuse by law enforcement," Crosby said, describing them as costly and hard to prove. "In this case, very credible witnesses have come forward describing extreme inhumane treatment, which is backed up by the physical evidence."

on edit: The guy had to die for this to get any coverage.

12. will the murderer get the death penalty for this?
After all, this jailer DID beat a man to death in cold blood.

Other people get dragged off to the execution chamber and killed for doing that. Why shouldn't this particular murderer suffer the same punishment?

17. Don't call it Abuse
It's torture/Murder/Kill...and that nurse damn well knew it as she was cleaning him up for the ambulance.

The PIG will walk...The tapes will be disappeared, he'll hide behind Force Continuum and it will let him walk.

People need to get wise about the power Militarized police have...you can not attack them, even if provoked , they have the power to assassinate you and they will. And they won't do a day of time. Police, Guards, any Law Enforcement are NOT public servants anymore, they are employees...paramilitary employees employed by agencies...He will walk

18. This man was murdered...
There is no other word to describe what happened to him. He was tortured, and murdered, and his killer should be held accountable. Psychos like the guy who killed him are the very last people who should be allowed to be in law enforcement.

From the article..."Watson was in a holding cell, he said, when a female police officer radioed the booking room to report she was bringing in "a live wire," apparently meaning an angry detainee.

Watson said the large, unidentified male jailer - the one who later allegedly beat Williams - put on a pair of black leather gloves before police officers brought Williams in to the booking room."

Now, reading this, the witness, Watson, says that the large male jailer, the killer, put on a pair of black leather gloves BEFORE the victim was brought into the room. That makes it look to me not only like murder, but premeditated murder. Otherwise, why put on the gloves before the prisoner was even brought in? The jailer was obviously determined to do some serious damage to the prisoner, even before he knew how the prisoner would behave. He planned to kill him.

25. How many times have these monsters done this before? Sounds like
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 06:58 PM by Judi Lynn
they've got a routine down already, when one of them yammers, "live one," and another one automatically puts on his leather gloves.

No doubt they've done this over and over again, maybe just didn't get caught by anyone who would give a damn.

What a way for this man's life to end, surrounded by racist mutants who took the cowards' way out in ganging up and beating him to death in a room from which he could never escape.

I hope the local press in Gulfport, Mississippi can take time from its busy day and give this cluster of crimes the attention it truly deserves.

On edit:

If you look at the photos mentioned beneath the one with the story, you'll see the marks on his back are believed to have been caused by a stun gun. I had no idea they left marks like that.

I don't blame Mr. Williams if he became overwrought and fought for all he was worth. He undoubtedly knew what lay ahead of him with these people. It would drive anyone absolutely insane.

31. "A jailer, his name withheld by authorities..."
what bullshit is that? when its a citizen accused of anything the gestapo can't release their name, home address and photos fast enough.

and: "Crosby said five cameras in the booking area filmed the incident. He has subpoenaed copies of the tapes, but had not received them as of Monday." hmmm, i bet those tapes vanish too. a little 'clerical error' will 'accidentally' result in their erasure. and they cut the phones too, so the other inmates couldn't report it too. and where's the perp? on 'administrative leave'!
