I hope nobody here is making fun of the mentally disabled. I have an adult nephew who is mentally disabled, and take umbrage at any insults to them.
Please tell me this isn't as mean-spirited a thread as it seems!!!

5. Just of the Bush administration. Not of the mentally handicapped. |
|
Just as the jabs about Bush's drinking problem is not making fun of alcoholics.

9. Some of the comments on this thread concern me |
|
There is NO relationship between mentally disabled people who DO need advocates in government as do ALL people with disabilities, and the Bush administration in which these people are not mentally disabled but just plain mean.
Can we think before we post please?
(let alone the fact that the article is about Japan)

mentally disabled. As one who has had the honor of spending a lot of time with special citizens over most of my adult life, I can attest that these fine citizens who put 100% to everything they set forth to achieve do not deserve the disservice of being mentioned in the same breath as the idiot fuckwads that would worship fatass rushbo, nor do they deserve to be labeled 'MORANS'
As far as the bush* administration goes, the distinction I would make is criminal vs mentally disabled. Perhaps criminally insane, or criminally incompetent, but let's not insult those who truly have no control over their capabilites in order to take a swipe at those who DO have choices and make poor or even nefarious, self-serving ones.
Yes, my soapbox. Just try me.
Incidentally, if you really want to get me started, did you know the mentally disabled must also register for the selective service?? Oh, it can be dealt with, but what a fricking pain in the goddamn ass.
