Just 17% Favor Dubai Ports Deal
I know DUer's feel about Rasmussen Polls and I agree - their polls lean heavily to the right. That makes the polls described in this article even more amazing. This rightwing polling organization has more Americans -- 43 to 41 percent -- trusting the Democrats in Congress more than the president on national security issues.

Finally, Americans are awakening from the long sleep that began with the election of Ronald Reagan.

Just 17% Favor Dubai Ports Deal

February 24, 2006--Just 17% of Americans believe Dubai Ports World should be allowed to purchase operating rights to several U.S. ports. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 64% disagree and believe the sale should not be allowed.

Just 39% of Americans know that the operating rights are currently owned by a foreign firm. Fifteen percent (15%) believe the operating rights

From a political perspective, President Bush's national security credentials have clearly been tarnished due to the outcry over this issue. For the first time ever, Americans have a slight preference for Democrats in Congress over the President on national security issues. Forty-three percent (43%) say they trust the Democrats more on this issue today while 41% prefer the President.

3. Bush and Repubs are hoping to run out the clock
They are willing to postpone action until the excitement dies down. Democrats should not get sucked into that scenario. Make Congress vote it up or down and then see who wins the next election. This issue is not going to fade in the minds of the American people and they won't believe it if the voting machines don't agree with them. This has the makings of a political revolution.

7. Does anyone really think this will go through??

I think there's so much opposition (for whatever reason) that it has no chance...but maybe I'm being too hopeful? Any other opinions?

8. I favor it.
I was all for the Bush Administration ignoring the middle-east until an eventual terror attack would give them absolute power to start wars and make their friends richer, too.

I'm a f*cking idiot.

22. Your point? That means there's a 95% certainty that the *TRUE*
is no more than 21%. Dire straights for supporters are clear, even in the repuke-leaning rasmussen numbers.

A +/- 4 % MoE and 95% CI is standard for just about any poll nowadays.

15. Poll: Just 17% Favor Dubai Ports Deal
Rasmussen Reports
Issues 2006

February 24, 2006--Just 17% of Americans believe Dubai Ports World should be allowed to purchase operating rights to several U.S. ports. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 64% disagree and believe the sale should not be allowed (see crosstabs).

Just 39% of Americans know that the operating rights are currently owned by a foreign firm. Fifteen percent (15%) believe the operating rights are U.S. owned while 46% are not sure.

For the first time ever, Americans have a slight preference for Democrats in Congress over the President on national security issues. Forty-three percent (43%) say they trust the Democrats more on this issue today while 41% prefer the President.

The preference for the opposition party is small, but the fact that Democrats are even competitive on the national security front is startling. In Election 2002, the President guided his party to regain control of the Senate based almost exclusively on the national security issue. On Election Day that year, just 23% rated the economy as good or excellent, but the President's Party still emerged victorious.

17. That's funny...
On my radio program, a show I do with two conservatives on a conservative station that plays rush and hannity right before our show, absolutely NONE of the callers we have had call in were against the Dubai port deal. They are so indoctrinated by the Republican party, so blinded by their ideology and the W.H. talking points and propoganda that they are actually for this Dubai port buy out. I point out everything that is wrong with this and the callers call in and say I'm some kind of liberal communist that wants to end free enterprise. It's amazing! These people are honestly fanatics. These "super patriots" that are supposedly extremely concerned with national security are so blinded by Republican spin that they can't even recognize the hypocrisy of favoring the Dubai buy out.

And of course they constantly complain that Dems are soft on national security. Retards!

18. I was asking a friend today...
...how many of that 17% he thought were the blind-following-fundies and how many of them were repug die-hards. I'm beginning to wonder how big his base is and how many * voters are the result of the PR modified mandate.
