TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson still remains far ahead of likely Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, according to a poll released Friday.

Nelson was favored by 53 percent of respondents, compared to 31 for Harris, according to a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University. The numbers were in the same range as polls the school conducted in November (55 percent to 31 percent) and August (57 percent to 33 percent).

1. Well...
He's not a great Democrat, but he's a hell of a lot better than that moron Katherine Harris. GO NELSON!

3. Maybe the news about the illegal campaign contributions...
...will knock her down ever more in the polls. Here's hoping.

4. I HOPE Floridians won't elect that POS!
She was an AH on every TV appearance in the 2000 mis-election and she's only gotten worse!

I know many of you don't like Nelson, but he's a heck of a lot better than Cruella!

If Nelson is a wolf in sheeps clothing, isn't the devil you know better than the one you don't???

7. Not a fan of Nelson
Edited on Sat Feb-25-06 06:31 AM by fujiyama
but we need all the seets we can get. At least, unlike Lieberman, he's not vocal in his support of Bush on certain policies. He does his voting and keeps quiet. Lieberman, even with a more liberal stance on domestic policies, is a bigger threat, because he is vocal in his support...

This race will undoubtably tighten though. But it looks like Nelson's in decent shape.

8. Agreed, but I think if we had a majority in the senate, people like
Nelson would vote with democrats more often.

He is not the best, but he is much better than Harris, and we need to get democrats in and republicans out.

9. Of course not Harris, but I think it is equally important for us to keep
working on Nelson with every vote and every issue. He has a healthy streak of ambition and may be eyeing the WH himself someday, so we can continue to remind him that he may need our continued support down the road apiece. He is my senator and I know he isn't beyond a little gentle political persuasion.

10. I can't believe the pubs ran this airhead.
They might as well have just conceded from the start. At least that would've saved them a few bucks. Harris has to be the biggest embarrassment to ever happen to the FL GOP.

11. Nelson isn't my favorite, but..
it sure will be sweet when Harris loses. Maybe she'll have the nerve to claim election fraud - that would be funny.
