Iraqi Government warns of 'endless civil war'
Iraq's Defence Minister warned yesterday of a "civil war" that "will never end" and said he was ready to put tanks on the streets as sectarian violence flared despite a second day of curfew in Baghdad.

Extending a traffic ban in the capital to Monday after battles around Sunni mosques and a car bomb in a holy Shiite city, leaders scrambled to break a round of reprisals sparked by a suspected al-Qaeda bombing of a Shiite shrine on Wednesday.

The gravest crisis since the US invasion in 2003 threatens Washington's hopes of withdrawing its 136,000 troops from Iraq.

"If there is a civil war in this country it will never end," Defence Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi, a minority Sunni Muslim in the Shiite-led interim government, told a news conference. "We are ready to fill the streets with armoured vehicles."

9. Who's tanks are going on the roads?
I haven't seen any Iraqi units in operation sporting much more than up-armored pick-up trucks. And I seriously doubt we're gonna let the Iraqi military "borrow" a few M-1's to quell the violence. We train them, give them guns, and they disappear to join the insurgency a few days later.

"Ok Mohammad, here are the keys to the tank. I want you back home by 10pm sharp, mister, and the gas tank better be filled up when you get here!"

So, what effect will US troops in tanks have on an already angry Iraqi population that's been fed propaganda that US troops and/or Jewish special ops were the ones to blow up the mosque? Not good at all.

10. The Iraqi army uses Russian made T-72 tanks
Also older T - 55's and T -62's. They once has over 600 of them but I guess we destroyed a bunch back in the 90's. Iraq received over eighty T -72 from Hungry last year.

13. Didn't he say
a couple of years ago that the world was more peaceful and free under HIS leadership? I remember wondering then how other heads of state enjoyed knowing that he's not just the leader of the U.S., but of the entire world. The man is an idiot.

Iraq is worse, it's worse in Afghanistan, he doesn't want the democratically elected president of Venezuela in power, and as far as Hamas in Palestine, forget it. The world is bloodier and far more dangerous since he started squatting in the Oval Office. Disaster and misery follow him wherever he goes.
