(Repub Senator Conrad) Burns says president's skull is "solid granite"

Burns says president's skull is "solid granite"

A Republican senator says President Bush is stubborn and has a skull of -- quote -- "solid granite."

Those are the words of Montana Senator Conrad Burns, in criticizing Bush's continued support for placing some U-S port operations under a company based in Dubai.

Burns made the remark at the Hill County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Day Dinner in Havre. His spokesman -- Matt Mackowiak -- says the reference to granite was not meant as an insult. Mackowiak says Burns uses the same phrase in talking about his son, and that it's -- quote -- "a little joke he likes to use."

21. Hey, please don't insult Curly like that.
At least he was good at what he did, IMO, making people laugh. He did it deliberately, too! :)

10. Burns has a big mouth
Sometimes he says things that are embarassing to Republicans and funny to Democrats (like this). Most of the time, he says horribly sexist and/or racist things which are also embarassing to Republicans, but (hopefully) funny to nobody. I think Conrad is going to have a rude awakening come November when an organic farmer with a flat-top kicks his electoral butt.
