US imperialism goes sour in Iraq
http://www.hipakistan.com/en/detail.php?newsId=en44843&F_catID=&f_type=source

Before launching attack on Iraq, President Bush had made the world believe that Iraq was the greatest threat to humanity. He said it was a symbol of terrorism as it had gathered weapons of mass destruction. With no such weapons recovered, America’s image has been badly tarnished and now there is a general consensus that the entire drama was staged to perpetuate American imperialism on the Muslim World.
George W. Bush feels genuinely convinced that his father - the elder Bush -had been defeated in the Presidential elections due to the loss of Jewish votes. So, the present incumbent is trying desperately hard to safeguard his power base. This primarily consists of the wealthy Americans, the ultra wing of the Republican Party and the increasingly influential and rich Christian church. To ensure good will and cooperation of these elements, George W. Bush has rolled his foreign policy and domestic politics into one, little caring for the consequences.
Bush has embarked upon implementing his agenda which is likely to help him in winning the election. To begin with, he would like Yasser Arafat to be ditched if not physically eliminated. Bush also seems fully determined to scorn the UN as it hinders exercise of unilateralism. In addition, Bush feels fully determined to send a message to the world abroad that any country whose policies run counter to American thinking will be severely dealt with. If that country persists to “misbehave”, it would be subjected to regime change.
It is interesting to note that the September 11 tragedy is playing into the hands of neo-conservatives, to advance their agenda. The “myth” of imperialism is being taken out of obscurity and is being given a “local habitation, and a name”.
<snip>

Hmmm. Another country Bushco is endearing to us.

1. In a cosmic sense, I'm
glad they're screwing up so badly in Iraq. I have never in my life seen such bungling. Everything they have done is botched. In 200 years, history books will call this the "dark ages" of western civilization.

Before anyone gets angry, think of the plans the PNAC (Project for the New American Century) had for all of us. I read their manifesto, and they are planning to become masters of the entire world. Iraq was just their first venue. They were going to turn the entire Middle East into vassal states of the US, so they can control most of the world's oil supply.

They even call themselves "benevolent dictators", meaning that, yes, we are dictators and we will tell the rest of the world what they can and cannot do, but we will be benevolent because the US is a "democracy" after all.

And they plan to back up those threats with nuclear bombs and WMD's. Benevolent?

3. Thanks
Given the particular lens, what a trenchant, comprehensive analysis. I lurk here every day and must read article 10-12 links avery day. That's a good 'un, IMHO.

BTW, Billy P., I really appreciate yr efforts in keeping LBN populated w/ culture-expanding international press stories. Sincere thanks.

"George W. Bush has rolled his foreign policy and domestic politics into one, little caring for the consequences."

Too lazy to seach at this hour, I find an interesting mirror here in story that was about LBN in the last 48 or so re: EU tariffs and such. It noted that the goods being considered and the degree of tarriffs were determined by impact on the swing states here inf US of A. IOW, our allies in EU are aware of the truth of the above quote, and, in turn, are tweaking their own foriegn/global trade policy to OUR domestic politics.

Such is the sad state of state of global affairs that the world is having to confront the narcisitic mugwump on his own turf, i.e, what in fact should be his own mirror gazing, politically interior, domestic political concerns. Which is itself a mirror of how one has to confront the morbidly occupied self-stroker on the personal, politics-as-MY-personality level in all matters.

Thanks again, BP.

6. No, thank you. Heh. I've always felt that more sides you can read,
the better a chance of approaching a truth. Having lived through the Nixon years, I try to remain a tad cynical of just about everything I read as news.

5. Unless armed men of the foreign invading army come banging at their door
That is pure and simple - you don't see something you can't experience, normal human behavior. I would blame the media for not letting everyone know of the real situation in Iraq.
