Iraqi Teenagers Watch as Americans Bleed, Happy
Edited on Wed Nov-12-03 10:39 AM by sparosnare
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - If Washington doubts there is Iraqi public support for guerrillas killing its troops, it should consider the teenagers who happily watched American blood spill on Wednesday.

After a roadside bomb ripped through a military vehicle and wounded two soldiers, Iraqi boys rushed out of their homes to survey the damage.

"This is good. If they ask me, I will join the resistance. The Americans have to die," said Ali Qais, 15. "They are just here to steal our oil."

The U.S. administration has long dismissed the guerrillas as isolated "terrorists" who are Saddam Hussein loyalists or foreign Islamic militants.

But the scene in the Sarafiya district of Baghdad suggests they are winning the sympathy of Iraqis, whose joy at Saddam's fall has been overshadowed by anti-American rage.

Teenage boys were irritated to hear that two American soldiers were just wounded, not killed.

"I saw them pushing their hands onto one of the Americans' chest. They must have died. One soldier's friend was crying," said Abdullah Oman, 18.

His fury has been fueled by what he says is an American desire to humiliate all Iraqis.

He even believes that U.S. troops plant the bombs themselves, risking American lives to terrify and kill Iraqis.

"They are watching us die and laughing. They humiliate us. They handcuffed me and arrested me in front of my parents late one night because I stood on my house porch after curfew," he said.

1. This is the First AD soldier who subsequently died.
Sad---but then again, if Sadaam invaded the U. S. a lot of citizens would be copying the freedom fighters in "Red Dawn".

2. Exactly...
We are acting like an occupying force, not a liberatiing one. If you humiliate anyone, they are going to get revenge on you. It's a basic human trait, but the Brass seems to forget this. Absolute disaster for all invovled, we need to re-think our approach and get the UN in there.

3. Yes we do
but now it seems we're doing the opposite - whip out that heavy hand and start bombing them again. Eventually we'll lose the few allies we have in the region.

Violence begets violence. Not too hard to understand.

4. No doubt that the Bush* administration thought it had a plan...
but it was a stupid plan. When people think that they know it all, they tend to have narrow paradigms.

5. cause ..... effect. Cause ... effect. The very definition of "karma"
It's like a law of physics. Predictable, undeniable.

I guess Bush thinks he can walk on water. Natural laws do not apply to him.

6. Drugs will do that...
... one symptom of cocaine use is a feeling of invincibility! I suspect that Bush not only still uses alcohol on a regular basis, but cocaine as well. I would LOVE to get my hands on a hair sample from his next haircut!

7. Goddamned, that's a GREAT IDEA!
But even if brave resistance members smuggled out a hair sample of Emperor Bunnypants* and it was tested, it would never be believed.

Plus, the brave resisetance members would be swiftly tracked down and imprisoned as a warning to those who would oppose Imperial Rule.

Unlike Busheviks like the Anthrax Assassin and the Plame Leaker, who probably got promotions for doing Imperial Dirty Work.

The Wanasee Protocol (the meeting in which the "Final Solution" was implemented) was smuggled out of Germany, but no one believed it, either.

That's a GREAT idea, Ben. But who would carry out this bold scheme?

12. our soldiers are in a freakin shooting gallery.....
<snip>Iraqis are angrier and guerrillas are carrying out more spectacular attacks such as suicide bombings and mortar strikes on the main U.S. compound in Saddam's former palace.

Shortly after Wednesday's bombing teenagers in Sarafiya picked up leaflets from a group calling itself the Army of Mohammad.

"Patience, patience Baghdad. The occupation army will be destroyed," the leaflets said

......Bring Our Soldiers Home Now!

13. They hate us for our free.......kin' KILLING!
The Iraqis are free to "make mistakes" now, right Rumsfield? So I guess that means it's up to you to punish them.

Bush in playing right into Osama's hands. It sickens me these two supposed adversaries gleefully propose murdering the infidel in the name of the Creator. Supposedly the same Creator. As I'm a far too rational being, I couldn't possibly contend that an apocolyptical event is now occuring or that the two faces of evil are working together.

So I'll just say-

although it is hard being aware of the pain of others, it is crucial to understanding where hatred and fear come from. Right now, I want to go into the middle of the cul-de-sac and scream "WAKE UP! PEOPLE ARE DYING! We are making them hate us more. They are creating the crusade and jihad they both want. They are destroying lives and minds and resources and air and water. Which is, THE END of life as we know it. So step away from the Faux and come out and we can fix this!"

Instead, I'll just walk across the street and have a visit with my wonderful republican friend. And because she knows I care for her, this time I know she will listen. I have to believe that.

14. Seen my first Kucinich for president sign today
I live in Repub heaven here 60 miles south of Chicago. Have not seen an other for any other candidate. It was a big huge hand painted thing in front of a farm just outside of my town. You can't miss it.

15. Saddamites. I went to the dark side to read reactions to this report.
.... With the exception of a few (very) rare thoughtful comments, fr**pers are truly deluded unto evil. They have become what they profess to revile.

16. This really stirred up the hornet's nest over there.
I find it ironic that they are very critical of the people who didn't want to send troops over there, when the fact of the matter is that if we were listened to this situation never would have occured.

18. well, it's too late now.
besides getting rid of saddam, we fucked up iraq. now we have to find a way to un-fuck it before we withdraw.

And if Clinton were in office, there wouldn't have been a war in Iraq.
