Talk show host Jon Matthews indicted on indecency with a child charge
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/topstory/2216672

Radio talk show host Jon Matthews was arrested in Sugar Land today and charged with one count of indecency with a child.

After weeks of speculation, he was indicted by a Fort Bend County jury and taken into custody at 3 p.m. today. Indecency with a child is a third-degree felony.

KSEV-AM 700 pulled the 59-year-old broadcaster off the air on Oct. 24 when the station's owner learned that Matthews was being investigated by Sugar Land police because of an "allegation from a community member." He had been the host of a weekday news show from 6 to 9 a.m.

Details have been slow to emerge in the investigation, and the Houston Chronicle had requested a copy of the police report under the Texas Public Information Act. State law says police departments cannot withhold basic information such as the date and location of an alleged incident and a description of the offense.

19. Well then this will blow over, right?

Just send him away for treatment for 30 days. That's the republican way, right? The law is secondary to his career, right?

Any freepers want to weigh in on this one?

Hypocrites all...

17. No, you're right.
I started a little Microsoft Word file back in 2002 (I think). I labeled it “Republican Family Values”. Wanted to keep a record of Republican and how they implement those values in their own lives. I’m up to 32 pages!! It needs editing, but still, that’s a hell-of-a pace!

Also read somewhere that Joe Conason has a list also, something that he kept to himself, and is now going to publish!! Story has Joe saying something to the effect that for all their shrieking about family values, when you compare Right wing infidelities and crimes against women and children to the Democrats, based on sheer numbers, the “R’s” win (if you can call it that) - handily.

My favorite quote from years ago was from Eleanor Mondale: “Democrats may screw their secretary’s, but Republican’s screw the country.” I thought it was great, but the press got on her.

12. Jon just wanted to show his THINGY to a child.....
Repugs can do that Right....

"Officials told News2Houston that a teenager who lives in Matthews' Sugar Land neighborhood went to police Oct. 9 and made accusations against Matthews.

"Under the occasion contained in the indictment in early October, Mr. Matthews exposed his genitals to a child (a person under 17)," said John Healy, the Fort Bend County district attorney. "We have not alleged any contact"

14. hopefully he will go to
prison for a very long time - as he advocated against "early release" -

We are also in debt to Houston talk show host Jon Matthews of KSEV, AM 700. Jon stood behind us every step of the way, and he explained over and over again the complex and difficult legislative, political and legal steps we had to take over the last eleven years to win this battle.

The same people who listen to Rush listen to this freak. JM was THE conservative voice of Houston talk radio and DeLay's biggest on- air cheerleader.

24. Jon
Some of us still DO live in the Houston area. JM moved with KSEV
which is ultraconservative after KPRC was bought by Clear Channel in 2001. He was always to the right of the right in town but did have a local column in a Sugar Land/Ft. Bend newspaper (the Star).

First post. Have enjoyed reading your forums for more than a year.
Can tell y'all a lot about DeLay's area since I live and work in it
and teach political science to the kids in the area.

26. New York/Texas

New York is much fun and I heard the other day that you have
no liberal talk shows on the radio either except for NPR/Pacifica.
So, you have your own Jon Matthews apparently.

Lots of work to do in both of states.

Thanks for the welcome!

Elizabeth

20. Yikes!

"For over 15 years, Houstonians have been waking up with Jon Matthews to discuss what matters most to them.
The Jon Matthews Show is non-stop stimulation. It's a fast-paced exchange of local and national issues. Jon's straightforward personality, combined with his sharp sense of humor, has earned him a loyal and responsive following.

Jon's warm appeal crosses many socioeconomic lines...join the friendly fire of Houston's hottest local talk show host!

Jon and his wife Carolyn reside in the Houston area and are the proud parents of two sons. He is a former Marine who was raised in Beaumont, Texas.

Looks as if he might be a Clear Channel celebrity, too.
