Explosions Reported in Baghdad for a Second Night

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- A steady drumbeat of explosions was heard in the Iraqi capital after sundown Thursday, part of a U.S. operation to suppress insurgent activity in the city.

The explosions were heard after 9 p.m.

A spokesman for the U.S. military said the detonations were part of ``Operation iron Hammer,'' a new policy of massive response to cope with the guerrilla threat
