Bush Loses Credibility with Public over Iraq War
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/oneworld/20031114/wl_oneworld/4536728401068822092&cid=655&ncid=1473

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov 15 (OneWorld) -- President George W. Bush's credibility has suffered a notable decline as a result of the Iraq war and its aftermath, according to a new poll released Thursday by the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA).

The percentage of people who now believe that Bush and his administration were presenting evidence they knew to be false to justify the decision to go to war last March has doubled from ten percent five months ago to 21 percent in the new PIPA polls, which conducted its survey of more than 1,000 adults contacted at random from October 31 through November 10.

Moreover, there was an 11 percent rise in the percentage of respondents who say Bush's performance on Iraq would make them less likely to vote for him in next year's presidential elections--from 31 percent in September to 42 percent--according to PIPA director, Steve Kull.

"For the first time, the president's handling of Iraq has shifted from a net positive to a net negative for his electoral prospects," Kull told reporters Thursday.

13. I think after 9/11 people put a lot of faith in him, though.
They more or less gave him credibility even though he hadn't earned it.

Then he betrayed everyone.

18. I see it that way, too, and it's troubling
Bush became a quasi-mythical figure to people.

His fall from that height probably will have consequences for society that go beyond merely his dropping in the opinion polls.

It's too early to celebrate until we see if people have returned to a semblance of rationality or are going to invest desperate faith in some new charlatan - or even more extreme policies.

17. Wait a minute, I resent the comparison to Shrub
I USED to sell PRE-OWNED vehicles, and I never smirked. They were quality vehicles, and the junkers and suspicious ones were auctioned off to some other unsuspecting dealer (LOL).

Compare his smirking to a Rethuglican obstructionist like Sanatorium or Grahamcracker.

5. This shows that the conservative media has it's limitations
The talk shows are still trying to rally people to support the war and as they do support is dwindling.

The same may happen with the Repub Congress.

6. Bush will spend the next 12 months acting like we are withdrawing
We may actully be withdrawing in the process. He is dead meat if he goes into the general election with this problem of Iraq raging.

That shall be the message coming out of the White House now.

Calling all the media whores!
Let's not forget that a primary (the primary?) reason why so many of the politically uninformed in this country fell for the Bush 'credibility' scam for so long is that the mainstream media whores, lest losing their highly-paid positions or their 'valuable' seat at the white house lap-dog table, constantly characterized every fu*king thing Bush did as an act of supreme statesmanship or steely determination or unparalleled courage.

Luckily, many Americans knew from the start that Bush is a fraud. However, even more Americans would have come to this conclusion early on had the mainstream media reported the news truthfully and objectively from the day the fraud and his gang stole the presidency.

9. Raises over 1 million bucks, so far.
Any ideas as to why he can keep getting these contributions from otherwise intelligent ,capable business leaders? I doubt they watch Faux news. Even if they agree with his facism ,why give to someone who is going to lose. These guys understand numbers..

14. The suits are crooks, my friend
Intelligent and capable business leaders? You gotta be kidding me. America's captains of industry are pathetic boobs. The unprecedented number of major corporate meltdowns in the last 2-3 years--plus years of working in corporate America--have convinced me of their boobery. Some are out-and-out crooks. Don't let the fancy suit or sales job fool you.

It's my opinion that the stale, gray men of whom you speak hope to attain status by affiliating themselves with someone they think is important. Since the media 'hos paint the chimp as "a leader" (depite the fact that he is a dangerous monkey), the mindless captians of industry fall in line. Most of these guys are not capable of thinking for themselves. Those that can, are probably criminals.

Trust me: corporate pukes suck, big time.

The dead suits who contribute to the Emperor's war chest are either jibbering idiots or venal thugs - or both.

12. Its a scary sign of the times
that he ever had any credibility to begin with. Only 21% think our regime lied to start an oil war, what an ignorant society we've become. How does one counter that when the media has become a wholly owned arm of the rnc?

15. Hope * doesn't pay OBL to do another job...................Yikes!
Well someone made the statement that * has stopped bleeding
in the polls, well I feel still it isn't enough.

I feel all the GOP should take responsibility. Each elected
GOPr needs to take the heat a little more than they are.

It needs to start at the bottom and work its way up as well.
Basically we need to clean house the whole way!!!!
