Canada severs diplomatic ties, aid, to Palestinians
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=ef14279f57f56530

Canada became the second country, after Israel, to sever diplomatic ties and financial aid to the new Hamas-led Palestinian government.

"This is very much in keeping with what we've consistently said: that we would require an incoming government to respect existing agreements to follow the road map to recognize Israel as a state and to renounce all violence," Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay said in Ottawa.

The financial aid to be withheld totals $6.2 million, the Globe & Mail reported.

1. Harper Sucking Up to Bush
The Conservative fascists hang together. It would have made more sense for Canada to break ties with US, considering how badly BushCo has treated them.

2. well...
Harper is pure a suck-up, he has been for a long time. He supported the invasion of Iraq back in 2003 and wrote a letter of apology to the people of the US on behalf of Canada for not supporting them, personally, I think that is terrible arrogance. I cannot stand Harper, he is Bush Lite for Canada as far as I am concerned.

Cutting aid to Palestine due to Hamas victory is somewhat a touchy subject, however...there are reasons to do it and reasons not to. It's quite complicated.

3. Did Canada REALLY cut ties BEFORE the US did?
That would really be sucking up.

4. harper, our new neocon wannabe is a TOOL of bushco.
and will end up screwing the conservative party in canada for the next five-ten years easily. he's doing FAR more harm than good. and like bush, he's surrounded himself with yes-men and women, is silencing dissent and is being secretive, all of which will NOT endear himself one little bit with canadian voters.
one more thing, the fool THINKS he's gonna GET something for his troubles too! he's gonna end being left swinging in the wind.
