Politics: 1 April 2006, Saturday.

Pop entertainer Michael Jackson was named America's Most Foolish Individual for 2006 for the fourth consecutive year.

The ranking is based on a random telephone survey of 1,045 individuals released in advance of April Fool's Day by well-known New York-based public relations consultant Jeff Barge.

In the Seventh Annual April Fool's Day Poll, a whopping 69% of those surveyed said the singer had "done something foolish" in the past year.

The second spot in this year's survey is shared between American vice president Dick Cheney, who recently shot a friend in the face during a hunting trip, and celebrity socialite Paris Hilton, a member of the well-known family of hoteliers. A total of 59% of American respondents said that Cheney and Hilton did "something foolish" in the past year.

American President George Bush ranked third in the survey, with 57% of the country saying he had done something foolish, up by 9 % over last year's ranking.

Actor Tom Cruise entered as a newcomer in the survey, where he ended up in the fourth place.

2. They should have a separate category for, "Jacko".
"Foolish" just doesn't seem to cover his antics. Now, bush.........there's one grade A, top fuel fool. Cruise deserves his spot, that's for sure. bush should have his own category as well. something along the line of "idiot" or "monkey-faced, lying piece of shit". Paris Hilton and Cheney tied? I can see that I guess but in Hilton's defense, she didn't shoot anyone in the face this year.

I'd say the people got the choices right, it's the categories I have trouble with.

27. I agree about the special catefory for MJ
but I also notice, in the other "contestants," the likelihood that mere foolishness can and will transform itself into full-blown freakishness. If Tom Cruise does not arrest his bizarre behavior soon, he will be indistinguishable from Michael Jackson in another five years or so. Being treated like Nero for the past five years (well, longer than that, really) has had a pernicious effect on GWB; God only knows what he'll be like in the next decade (like Jacko, he already has a "ranch").

4. How well I remember Michael Jackson . . .

What a cute kid was he! And then he *freaked* & bleached himself. Sad. Very.

11. Michael Jackson was much better looking as a black man than
he is as a white woman!

Seriously, he was pretty handsome before he started making all the changes. His Off the Wall album cover had a very flattering picture of him. I don't understand what he was trying to do, but I've got to think somewhere along the way it all went horribly wrong.

The pointy Woodpecker nose and damaged hair is not a good look.

24. He was a cute little boy and a handsome young man, wasn't he?
And so talented!

I'll just say what I said the *first* time he got in trouble for "innocently loving children": Whatever's going on with him, he is wearing his sickness on his face.

And by this time, Jacko's face is pretty much like a reverse "Portrait of Dorian Gray" -- that is, somewhere in his attic is a picture of Michael Jackson as he *should* have been by now: a handsome black man of mature years. And out in public now is the man with the freaky, creepy face he has earned, the face that reflects who he really is.

Brr.

Mothers, bring your children in doors and tell them not to talk with strange beings who want to show you their private amusement park.

Hekate

12. It's hilarious that Cheney is constantly linked with Paris Hilton
First, there was the big to-do because Paris Hilton, a thoroughly despicable dunce, was more likeable than Dick Cheney. Now they tie for second most foolish. That these two douchebags are weirdly linked in the public consciousness says all you need to know about the Zeitgeist.

Paris: "That's hot"
Cheney: "Go fuck yourself."

25. Exposure's got to be part of it.
*'s everywhere ... and the abaya-wearing pseudo-white quasi-male's also notorious for the 6:28 freak slot on the evening news; the Cheney story was the shot heard round the world.

Tom Cruise ... I assume he did something foolish, but I haven't heard about it.

Personally speaking, I think if more people got more media exposure there'd be hundreds tied for first place, thousands tied for second place, and tens of thousands tied for third. Then the competition would start to pick up.

14. Most Embarrassing President Ever
I'd like to see people start saying that about Bush, in addition to calling him the worst ever.

It's hard for him to compete with Jackson for the overall title, but Jackson's foolishness is easier to disregard.

Damn. I agree with the ranking, but it really is appalling that "leaders" are viewed this way. Just like the approval polls, this is a historically wretched moment in American politics.

Think about it. These four people competing in the same contest for inanity:

Michael Jackson
George Bush
Dick Cheney
Paris Hilton

How many other presidents and vice presidents have been compared to empty headed entertainers?

how many artists and elite inheritresses have ever been
degenerately put in a list with mass murderers and
heinous criminals.

Jesus juice and a hot fuck is hardly entry in to the

call the esteemed regular citizens as empty in any
way next to the degenerate company.

There are so many fine examples: The "War on Christmas", the falafel, his threatening to get Fox security to go after Olbermann fans.

I don't like pedophiles anymore than the next person, but I still think the murderer is more foolish than the ped.

Hilton is just stupid. Putting her up with them is an insult because the real perps are getting away with it. They're saying cheney is no better than paris and bush IS better. These guys are a LOT worse than a dumb socialite.
