WASHINGTON (AP) — The Bush administration on Friday accused 60 countries and three trading blocs of erecting unfair barriers to American exports.

But Democrats attacked the annual report on trade barriers as an empty exercise because the administration has failed to aggressively pursue cases before the World Trade Organization.

<snip>

The Democrats charged that the Bush administration has only brought 14 WTO cases in five years in office, while the Clinton administration averaged 11 cases per year.

They said Bush has been reluctant to pursue cases against the biggest offenders, particularly China, even as America's overall trade deficit soared to a record $724 billion last year and the imbalance with China hit $202 billion, the highest ever recorded with a single country. They said the deficits have contributed to the loss of nearly 3 million U.S. manufacturing jobs since Bush took office.

...more...

(Note to mods: this article is 1 hr past the 12 hr rule, but it is the first time I have seen anyone quote in the MSM how many manufacturing jobs have gone overseas since *Co has taken over our country. Do as you will and thanks for all you do, UIA)

4. "...unfair barriers to American exports."
You mean we actually export something in addition to our jobs?

5. He forgetting the part...
that the US usually LOSES WTO actions; ergo it's really only the US that thinks it being unfair treated.

If Europeans don't want steroids in their meat, then there is nothing the US can do and SINCE the American people fall into national jingoism and exclusiveness like clockwork, there is NOT likely anyone in the US to say, 'hey maybe the Euros are right, why the hell are we poisoning our meat for the benefit of a handful of companies in the meat industry'.
