Republicans seize on censure bid to drum up support

More than 10m grassroots Republican activists were sent an internet advertisement this weekend.

It starts with a hooded man running through a bombed-out building. As the sounds of gunshots and a fast-beating heart fade, a voice intones: "Terrorists declared war on our country. Today, the terrorists still fight this war."

After a reassuring shot of President George W. Bush vowing to defend the nation, and a reference to his pursuit of the international communications of al-Qaeda members, the advert cuts to clips of four angry Democrats. They suggest he has broken the law and hint at impeachment. "Censure? Impeachment? Is this the Democrat's plan?" it concludes.

The advertisement marks part of an ambitious campaign by Republicans to follow the strategy for the mid-term 2006 elections set out by Karl Rove, Mr Bush's chief political strategist: to paint the Democrats as soft on national security and living in a pre-9/11 world.

1. Republicans: We let Republican pResident's shred the Constitution.
Of course, as long as Republicans control our government, they'll need to keep the GWOT going. How can they steal with impunity if they don't curtail our civil rights?

After 6 years of incompetence and systematic looting, I'm sure this will fire up the base...not.

2. I agree ~ a member of my family who voted for him twice and who I
couldn't even speak to for a while after the last election, asked me this week 'how do we get our country back?' He also asked me what I thought about election theft and I told him about Diebold, how the owners were Repubs who promised Bush Ohio, and how the machines are so easy to manipulate. He was horrified and said he would have to read some more about it. He said that it sounded to him like what we need to go back to are 'paper ballots'. He got it right away, because now his mind is open to the truth.

That letter will not win him back because now he is wide awake and realizes the mistake he made

This week in one of our local papers, there was a letter that would never have been published even a year ago:

To the Editor:

The president of the United States and his cabal of criminals have managed, finally, to awaken the American people to the shameful fact that they have allowed their government to be hijacked.

The president's poll numbers are falling like a barbell in the swimming pool. The lower house of the State of Maryland has voted 139-0 against the use of Diebold voting machines in their next election. Why? Because these machines are subject to easy entry and altering and do not leave a "paper trail"

. . . whoa, folks, who is Diebold, you ask?

Diebold is the company whose voting machines were used in the last Ohio presidential race and whose chief executive was and is a member of the George Bush $100,000 Club. He promised, publicly at that (the brazen son of a bitch), to "deliver Ohio to the Republicans," and he did!

Let them try, but the worm has turned, from what I am hearing from Republicans, and I doubt there's anything they can do about it ~ I'm hearing more and more people

3. Probably not a good idea to remind people about the Bush law breaking.
This could backfire on the Pubbies. Lower ratings for Bush coming....

For nearly five years, these idiots have not been able to make one single point without bringing up terrorism! :eyes:

Note to the people who view this ad:
If Bush** was as strong, honest and heroic as they claim he is, they wouldn't have to resort to scare tactics to gain your support!
