US-Iran Talks Over Iraq Put on Hold
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060407/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_iran_1

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration remains interested in limited talks with Iran on its activities in Iraq, but no meeting is scheduled, a State Department spokesman said Friday.

The talks would be held in Baghdad, where U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad was authorized months ago by President Bush to meet with Iranian diplomats on a limited basis.

"We don't have a timeline for such a meeting," spokesman Sean McCormack said. "As for whether there will be a meeting, we will see."

The U.S. official added: "We've had concerns about the Iranians' behavior in Iraq. We are calling for good, neighborly, transparent relations between Iraq and Iran."

1. Our american Afghanistan-born neocon Ambassador in Iraq
is said to speak farsi, and is Sunni...and many of Iraqi Shia clerics aren't comfortable with his thinking. In fact, one Shia cleric called on his replacement accusing him as sunni sympathizer. The entire Iraq policy is doomed, and will continue to deteriorate under washington leadership headed by Amb.Zalmia

5. what a joke, "...concerns about the Iranians' behavior in Iraq."
i think the WORLD has a few concerns of its own about the US's 'behavior in Iraq'. just one more part of the little game they are playing. next they'll call off the talks while uttering some nonsense like 'iran is not serious about peace... we don't negotiate with terror-supporting regimes...'
