Tempers flare over abortion (Idaho Statehouse)
State Rep. Sali offends Jacquet by linking breast cancer to abortions

Gregory Hahn
The Idaho Statesman | Edition Date: 04-08-2006

The Idaho House broke down Friday during an emotional fight on an abortion bill, forcing the Legislature to try to finish its business next week.

This may have been the last Statehouse clash between House Speaker Bruce Newcomb and 1st Congressional District candidate Bill Sali, R-Kuna. They have been at odds throughout Newcomb's eight-year tenure as speaker, and both are leaving the Legislature this year.

The fight started when Wendy Jaquet, the House Democratic leader and a breast-cancer survivor, objected to debate about studies that abortion foes say link the cancer to abortions — a link she says doesn't exist and stigmatizes breast cancer victims.

Newcomb asked Sali privately to empathize with Jaquet, but Sali kept pressing his argument. Jaquet left the floor in tears, and fellow Democrats soon followed.

20. Miscarriage
Miscarriage, otherwise known as spontaneous abortion, is thousands-fold more common than induced abortion.
If the wingers want to argue that induced abortion is linked with breast cancer (for which there is no scientific evidence), then they must also accede that nature's process of weeding out bad embryos also puts women at risk. But of course they argue the opposite, saying that miscarriage has no breast cancer link, which physiologically makes no sense. This is just another scare tactic on the part of uncompassionate fundie wingers.

3. Isn't this one of the lies those fake feminists have been spouting
All over the country? Abortion drives you crazy, can give you cancer and you regret your sin the rest of your life?

I can't remember their names, but saw their christo facist leader on Washington Journal.

5. This wouldn't be one of them? -->
Bambi Swindell and Bill Sali have worked quite closely on the "Return Idaho and America to 1620" politics.

9. I don't know. The org had one of those Orwellian names like
"American Christian Feminists for Life" and were starting "clinics" were women could listen to the heartbeats of fetuses. It was disgusting.

11. GOOOO BAMBI !!
Remember when they tested the candidates, (that were running for Boise City Council) to see how much actual knowledge they had of the city of Boise. She scored last, with an F-. The Boise Weekly accurately described her educational background as "All Church and No State". (te he he he.)

16. Holy Mackerel
reading her gloss of the Dems 'staging a walkout" with no mention of the cheap shot says it all. Cute really cute, in a GOP conniving smarmy sense of course.

What intrigues me about this memememe website is the curious lack of a bio. Usually even when one has something to hide there is a brief bio of sorts. She just seems to spring up like a cult figure ready made for higher things, all the intentions cutely disguised, all the rabid mad Evita stuff looking so lovely in her private mirror.

And what a boastful liar in those not so clever insinuations and evasions.

I hate to say this, but experience seems to suggest her biggest secret joy might well be in being a bigger sinner than anyone else and getting away with it under hypocritical cover. Punishment of others is one of her great delights.

19. I love the part on her website. " She is unusual because she is a 29 year
old".... You see that is the problem she is post-Roe, post the real Womens movement.... I too am to young but I read and read all of the historical points, I tend to think that Bambi has a sheltered view on womens health issues, and could not fathom a day when women were treated as home bound slaves and baby mills.... We have to stop letting monkish beliefs drive our public health policies.

4. Do you think Sali celebrated after?
Wendy is my rep. She once helped me in a battle I had with the State Insurance fund. (I eventually won) She used to call me at night and we'd talk and laugh as if we were old buddies. She is a wonderful person and a GREAT REP !!
I think I'll write Rep Sali to express my true feelings, -- that he really is an insensitive, diabolical, moronic butthead.

18. looking like a bully, generally ends up hurting ones' cause
wouldn't it be interesting to have a number of breast cancer survivors ascend on the State House (with cameras rolling), making the same argument - that the "studies" are flawed, and countered with real (peer review) studies, and call them on the attempt to smear all breast cancer survivors... These idiots are dumb enough to do what Congressman Hostettler did in a similar situation - he kept spouting the same fake statistics until the women (who were lobbying congress for funding for breast cancer research) cried. Yes, set them up - get them to keep repeating their inflamatory rhetoric - expose them - then retort with "haven't we suffered enough? why do you need to make false accusals intended to inflict pain?" Expose them for the jerks they are. Let the public glimpse into the future theocracy these folks would like to impose.

30. Brandi's real name is Melissa
She gave herself the nickname "Brandi". She's the Janet Jackson of the ultra conservative religious fanatics.

Sali claims brain damage. His insane mutterings prove it.

Newcomb acted honorably but of course Sali is running against one of Newcomb's buddies in November.

I don't know how anyone can trust that party anymore.
