Surprise turns sour for Iraqi-born woman
April 13, 2006

CLEARWATER - An Iraqi-born woman whose ex-husband was lauded by Gov. Jeb Bush as a symbol of progress in Iraq was detained at Tampa International Airport and is scheduled to be deported tonight.

Safana Jawad, 45, who lives in Spain, said federal agents told her she was barred from the entering the country because she is connected to someone they view as suspicious. She was being held in the Pinellas County jail Wednesday night.

Homeland Security Department agents refused to identify the suspicious person, Jawad said.

"It's a nightmare," Jawad said in a phone interview from the jail Wednesday afternoon. "I don't know why I'm here. I don't know why this happened. I feel like I will wake up holding my son in my arms."

3. They are singling out innocent people
and harassing them, instead of going after real terrorists and drug runners.

4. Real terrorists and drug runners shoot back
Innocent women in head scarves don't, but they are muslims, so it appeases those on the right who like to see muslims suffer to harrass somebody who looks like some of the people who are considered enemies.

5. I think I might be afraid to fly for the first time
If you are in their clutches, there is no escape. I have some LD traveling to do and I was planning on flying, even if the cost is HUGH. I think I might drive. I have the time.

6. Oh I can clear this one up, her ex husband asked Bush to do him a favor.
He asked if she could be Gitmo'd.

7. "connected to someone they view as suspicious" ? ? ?
what the fuck does that even mean? this obsession with 'guilt by association' is such garbage and so is their blatant racial profiling.
