Bush to Speak at 4 Graduation Ceremonies
WASHINGTON - President Bush will deliver commencement addresses at four colleges this year, including a community college hit by Hurricane Katrina.
The White House announced Thursday that Bush will speak May 6 at Oklahoma State University, May 11 at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, May 27 at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., and June 19 at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, which was attended by Bush's outgoing White House chief of staff, Andrew Card.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College suffered tens of millions of dollars in damage and lost a quarter of its student enrollment after Katrina.

> yes!! please!! there's NO WAY for shrub to look good at any school.

Actually, at West Point, he can order them to make him look good. :-)/2

He doesn't actually need to order them. I'm sure any of the cadets-now-
graduate US military officers would be severly disciplined if they showed
*ANY* disrespect to their Commander-in-Chief.

That's why two military accademies are on his list!

they'd stage a mass walkout during the idiot's speeches. He always says the samn damned thing anyway, and never shuts up. every freaking day he's making another appearance, saying the same old cliched rot, and soaking up the limelight for his idiocy.

After all he is commander in chief. It is interesting that he only gets invites from service academies and places for political stunts.

'safer' schools - bob jones U or oral roberts, Utah or Kansas...funny he didn't pick any UC school. How do they screen a graduating class? I mean even in Oklahoma there is bound 2 B a couple of liberals in the class.

And was met by 20 students pushing wheel chairs, and wearing Arthur Bremer Masks

I still haven't forgiven Yale for giving him an honorary doctorate in 2003. I went down to the Green to protest.

He claimed that he didn't go to his daughters' ceremonies because he didn't want to get in the way and inconvenience the other visitors.

23. no kidding -- seeing Bush smirking and bragging about how lazy he was
... and how he was a C-student who cut class or slept during lectures ... my reaction would be to throw down my cap and hood, and walk out of the ceremony. I worked really hard, on my coursework and thesis research (plus the summer and year-round jobs I had to pay tuition) -- and hearing him make college sound like 4-year holiday paid for out of Daddy's wallet would be the last straw!

It must be really embarrassing for Yale grads to see him up there in his undeserved blue doctoral gown. Check out what he says about PhDs.

28. What a f*cking bast@rd!
Those folks worked damn hard for their PhDs! Lazy mother f*cker.

I hope to God they all pick up their seats and turn their backs to him in protest. I sure as hell would. I'd go across the stage with my robe open showing an anti-BUSH shirt too, and refuse to shake his hand.

God I hate him with every fiber of my being. Those quotes really steamed me up!

36. some C and B students I know are also upset ...
They worked their asses off to get their grades -- one woman I tutored took a stats course three times, and she found it very difficult because she didn't have the prerequisites. After hours in front of the computer, she got a C+ on the final and was so pleased to pass! One ESL student came to me and said that he really wanted to learn how to do a graduate-level research paper -- in English, even though he also speaks Chinese and German. And then there's the aboriginal student, a single mom holding down a job, who also wanted to get her degree. None of them can understand why someone would boast about slacking off! They didn't crack 80%, but they mastered some difficult material, and coped with a lot more than Bush ever did when he was at school.

29. I would hope that if they did protest
In a serious way (it is a serious occasion after all), that they could sue the pants off any uni president who would refuse to graduate them. I think they would have a very good chance in court.

And the PR for withholding degrees from a large number of students would be horrible, just horrible. Surely they wouldn't risk it.

26. What? Brown didn't get Bush this year?
or UCLA?
Or the University of Illinois? University of Wisconsin?
If Bush had any guts at all, he'd agree to appear in front of a college known for liberalism.
But this man is not known for courage.
He'll demand a fixed fight.
Students will probably be threatened with having their degrees withheld if they show the slightest disapproval.
This is more nationalistic theatre.
Leni Reifenstahl should be there to film it all for the next GOP convention.

33. I hope he pants like a dog again. I wish he'd
do that at the College of Veternary Medicine at TAMU. What a thrill that would be: to see some very intelligent grads see that he has the communications skills of a horse.

Let him try to talk about those "C" grades there, where you have to have a near perfect gpa to get in. (My OB wanted to be a vet. Couldn't get in.)
