Mrs. Bush Loses Her Reluctance to Campaign
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 07:03 PM by NVMojo
WASHINGTON (AP) - Laura Bush, a reserved former librarian who only reluctantly warmed to politicking, said often and somewhat nostalgically in 2004 that her husband's re-election bid was the couple's last campaign.

So much for that idea.

The first lady is back on the hustings with gusto, deploying her sky-high popularity, practiced smile and firm defense of President Bush's agenda for Republicans nationwide. GOP strategists say sending Mrs. Bush out to help candidates running in the midterm elections is a no-brainer.

Her poll ratings swamp the president's and those of other high-profile Republicans, with three-fourths of the public holding a favorable view of her. That's down a bit from her 80 percent approval ratings over a year ago, but well above the barely more than a third who like the job her husband is doing.

Squeezed between foreign trips focused on expanding opportunities for women and more traditional first lady duties, Mrs. Bush has notched 10 political appearances so far - all fundraisers. They began with a Republican National Committee event in Los Angeles last April and continued with stops for GOP Rep. Jim Gerlach of Pennsylvania and several gubernatorial candidates later in 2005.

4. Did it ever occur to them she's popular BECAUSE she hasn't
been campaigning? Enough time out in the public and she's going to screw up. She'll either say something she's thinks is innocent but will be exploited, or people will really get to know her, and she'll turn out not to be the woman they thought she was!

Trashing Hillary's housekeeping strikes me as silly.

Implication being that Hillary should be the one cleaning the whole f^cking WH by herself. UNBELIEVABLE.

but it sure is hard to put a soft and fuzzy on this insane mess. My guess, it's too little too late and a hint of desperation. Nice try, though, Karen.

33. It's desperation
Undoubtedly a desperate move. She's the least of all evils. Who else is there from the White House who could campaign that's not completley covered already by incompetence or corruption? Their dog Barney can't even go because America has already seen him takin' a shit in public. : )

18. OK, Mrs. first lady of war has not worked a day in her life except for
four years or so. The rest of her life she spent sponging off the Bush money. She did her duty to deserve that money, she birthed twins.

Yippee doo

What would you expect? If if were not for the GBush money she would be still a librarian.

She has all these initiatives--Afganistan women rights, helping boys in the ghettos areas and so on and so on--and she does nOTHING at all about it. What she does is pay a visit to the schools and the "boys" promotes whatever her latest photo ops cause, and within hours is making a speech at some fund raiser--in other words, we are paying for her to make money, under the guise that she is traveling on our money for her "causes" that do nothing and receive zilch funding, so she can go out to raise money for her stupid husband.

Well, if you have lived off that money for thirty five years and that is your livelihood, why not would a Stepford wife continue to want that same livlihood?

She is as manufactured as is a Barbi doll. She is on welfare. She is the embodiment of a welfare Mom. Our money going to her travels under the pretense of these "causes' while she lives off the Bush money. She is not working. she is a sponge. It is all she is capable of at this time. She is a nothing

20. I don't get it. Why is she so popular?
She's wallpaper! She has no personality, nothing to contribute, & has no fashion sense whatsoever. Much as I disliked Nancy Reagan, at least she knew what to wear to a state dinner.

Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 07:58 PM by JI7
they always present her in a positive way. they never report the horrible things she does like kicking out and having a woman arrested for wanting to know why her son died in Iraq. her selfishness and coldness when it comes to other people.

Tesesa was evil for telling that guy who was an ass her to family to "shove it". but Laura is a saint for kicking out and arresting a mother of a soldier that died in a war her husband laughs at.

35. Shall I make the WANTED POSTER or will someone else
Photoshop it?

WANTED FOR MURDER. LAURA BUSH for committing vehicular manslaughter, killing an EX Boyfriend with her car.

THERE's the Headline and a great poster for everyone to carry whenever she SPEAKS anywhere, "LAURA, WHY did you KILL a Man with a CAR?"

That'll knock down that percentage a few notches.

Bush hiding behind his wife's SKIRTS, another act of COWARDICE once again.
