Tommy Franks: Iraq planning lasted 14 months(Jan 2002)
Franks accidently speaks the truth, caught this over at Eshaton
Well before the dickhead's assertions and insistence that planning didn't start till late 2002.
Crooks, Liars and Ratbastard's every last one of them

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/harry-shearer/iraq-war-planning-the-_b_19142.html

On Hardball Friday afternoon, Gen. Tommy Franks, the commander of the Iraq war, was defending Defense Secretary Rumsfeld against the recent offensive by the retired generals. In passing, he said this:

"Ask him about the 14 months we spent planning this thing."

That would put the operational, as opposed to contingency, planning as having started in roughly January of 2002, about eight months later than what was implied in Joint Chiefs head Peter Pace's statement at the Pentagon briefing earlier this week.

5. Amazing how every once in a while one of these dipsticks gets caught
telling the truth.
Could count on one hand the number of times, but it sure does make it all the more special when it DOES happen, don't you think??

What a bunch of fucknuts.

6. 14 months, and yet , 3 whole days before the war started
The war planners and intelligence officials were meeting at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, looking at a slide presentation.

When they came to the slide on post-war planning, it said "To Be Provided."

10. Bullshit. Seizing oil fields was planned for 30 Yrs Ago by Nixon...

Britain Says U.S. Planned to Seize Oil in '73 Crisis

These simple fine-haired sons-of-bitches just tweaked the old Nixon plans and switched the "Saudi Arabia" into "Iraq".

Look at the maps of Iraq oil fields that JudicialWatch put out awhile back when suing Cheney to get info on his secret Energy Plan. Those oil fields in Iraq match up conveniently with the 14 permanent bases in Iraq that the Quakers put on their weblink

http://www.fcnl.org/iraq/bases.htm

Didn't Cheney and Rummy both work in the Nixon era administration ?

14. Lesser roles under tricky Dick, Ford's go-to guys.
Rumsfeld - Chief of Staff until appointed Defense Secretary.
Cheney - Chief of Staff after Rummy

Rummy: "In 1973, he left Washington, DC, to serve as U.S. ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in Brussels, Belgium (1973-1974)."

Cheney: "Dick Cheney's political career began in 1969, during the Nixon administration. He held a number of positions in the years that followed: special assistant to the Director of the OEO, White House staff assistant, assistant director of the Cost of Living Council, and Deputy Assistant to the President."

12. Too cerebral.
The concept of Bush speculating on painting a US plane in UN colours to provoke war is the money shot.

Even that is hard to get over on the public. This story about planning being 14 months as opposed to whatever is a distraction.

13. And more lies from General Franks-enstein...
are chronicled at americablog.

Tommy Franks, in Bob Woodward's book "Plan of Attack, page 281, commenting on Douglas Feith, the Pentagon's undersecretary for policy:

"I have to deal with the fucking stupidest guy on the face of the earth almost every day."
Tommy Franks tonight on MSNBC's "Hardball" TV show:

"I would put Doug Feith in a category as a brilliant man."

Then again, in all fairness to Franks, maybe he didn't lie tonight on Hardball. Maybe he lied to Woodward. Either way, so much for that man's character.

17. which means that the order to plan for war was given on 9-11
and the detailed planning for the Iraq war began in January 2002, right after Afghanistan. The whole thing about the UN and WMD was nothing but a PR show for a war that was decided as the Pentagon burned.

This is a war crime under the Nueremberg protocols!

19. Tommy "Country Club" Franks.
Commanded the war from his office in Florida because he liked the golf course there.
Talk about your Extreme Tele-Commuting!

Just what the hell did they do for 14 months? Sit around and jerk-off to fantasies of how great it would be to be greated with open arms and legs as "liberators"?
