(Shimon) Peres says Ahmadinejad to end up like Saddam

Peres says Ahmadinejad to end up like Saddam

JERUSALEM - Israeli veteran statesman Shimon Peres, responding to the latest verbal attack on the Jewish state by Iran ‘s president, said on Saturday that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would end up like Iraq ‘s Saddam Hussein .

In a speech to a conference on the Palestinian issue on Friday, Ahmadinejad said: "The Zionist regime is a decaying and crumbling tree that will fall with a storm."

Peres, in a statement quoted by Israel Radio, called Ahmadinejad‘s comments a direct threat to Israel‘s existence.

"His statements are reminiscent of those voiced by Saddam Hussein. Ahmadinejad will end up like Saddam Hussein," he said, referring to the Iraqi leader ousted by a U.S. invasion in 2003 and on trial for the killings of 148 Shi‘ites two decades ago.

but what kind of person sides with someone who aspires to annihilating an entire nation/race of people?

11. I didn't side with anybody so that remark is totally worthless and petty.
I do know that so much of the trouble we're in in the Middle East is because we support the Israeli government even when, and especially if, it is against our own best interests.

And while I do understand that this Iranian buffoon calls for the complete obliteration of Israel, which is so wrong there aren't words to describe it, I will also point out that the general policy of Israel has been to ensure the same for the Palestinian people. Don't even think I'm stupid enough to think that Israel is the proverbial 'innocent bystander' in this mess without a solution.

3. Oh great. Now we have both Israel and Iran
egging us on to get ourselves yet even more over extended in another bloody and endless hostile occupation of a Muslim nation. We can't handle 25 million Iraqis, how are we supposed to handle 80 million Iranians?

By the way, Ahmadinejad saying that the 'Zionist regime .. will fall' is not a threat to annihilate Israel. On the other hand Perez announcing the imminent attack and occupation of Iran is a threat to annihilate Iran. Oh, and the only nation making credible threats to use nuclear weapons here would be our lovely nation.

4. Excuse me. First of all Perez was NOT speaking for the Israelli
government. He was speaking as an individual. Second of all, please don't paint Ahmadinejad as a pleasant fellow. He is extremely anti-Jewish, and do not assume I am saying that because of his position on Israel. He has made enough statements againsts JEWS to reflect his true feelings.

"Speaking to an Israel Radio reporter, Peres said "Ahmadinejad's statements remind those of Saddam and he will end up the same way as Hussein has."

"Peres gave the statement as personal commentary. Israel did not, however, make an official response to Ahmadinejad's latest speech. "

As far as the threats right now each side is just preaching to their constituents

6. I did not paint him as a pleasant fellow.
I presonally think he is a religious frootloop like our own dear leader, although with little effective power.

On the other hand, his utterances are being routinely distorted in the current propaganda campaign to take us into this next war. I'm going to continue to point out the distortions and the hypocrisy of our own policies as my small contribution to end this next war.

The personal commentary of Peres cannot be separated from his role as elder statesman. His statements are most certainly to be considered part of the Israeli campaign to have us take out another of their rivals. And Peres' constituents, unlike Ahmadinejad's, extend to right here in the USA, a fact that we just refuse to deal with.

10. I would never tell you not to continue to point out distortions
or even your opinion on anything

I did not mean characterize you painting the Iranian president as a nice fellow, and appologize for that

I definitely agree with you assessment of the current propaganda campaign, but respectfully disagree with your assessement that the commentary of Peres was the same as the comments from Israel, since they went out of their way to characterize it as personal statement, and not that of the government. If an official comment from their government comes out agreeing with conclusion, then it is another story. There are enough "elder" statesmen in the U.S. who make statements that do not reflect our current government, unfortunately.

16. Peres suggests Iranian president is madman
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=0743c313c5b7828b

In an address on Israel Radio Saturday, former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres suggested that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a madman.

Peres predicted that Ahmadinejad will end up the same way as Saddam Hussein, CNN reported. Peres was responding to statements by the Iranian leader on Friday that the Zionist regime is a dying tree, and an earlier statement that Israel would be wiped off the map.

"History knew how to denounce madmen and those who wave their sword, and all those who acted this way ended their careers accordingly," Peres said

his 'command' of the matter by giving Israel the perfect ploy: Iran itself blocks the Straits of Hormuz

thus destroying Iran's economy. Iran disguised as Israel of course. Wink wink, nod nod.

But oh how he can fire up the opposite side?

We're giving into EMOTION and will execute Moussoui. Why? Because he begged for it.

Will we, in turn, BOMB Iran just because of a loud mouthed figurehead? If we do, it will begin WWIII with most of the World Community on the other side.

"Ahmadinejad represents Satan, not God," said Peres, who shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize with the late Palestinian and Israeli leaders, Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin.
