Gov. Jeb Bush visits Florida troops in Iraq, Kuwait
Gov. Bush visits Florida troops in Iraq, Kuwait

April 15, 2006
The Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Jeb Bush shared meals Saturday with Florida-based troops stationed in Iraq's war zone during his two-day tour of the Middle East.

Bush, joined by the governors of Indiana, Iowa and West Virginia, arrived in Kuwait on Friday, where he toured a military facility and had dinner with troops from throughout the United States stationed at Camp Virginia.
Bush then traveled from Kuwait to Baghdad, and had breakfast Saturday with troops. He then traveled to Balad, Iraq, where he toured a hospital and had lunch with Florida troops.

The Florida Army National Guard currently has 338 members serving in Iraq and 60 stationed in Kuwait.

Bush was invited to visit the troops by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He began his trip on Thursday with classified briefings in Washington and a meeting with Rumsfeld.

Accompanying Bush on the trip were Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, and West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin.

10. He will do an Arnold..
He will sit back and wait until the last possible moment, and then he will swoop in and enter the race.. he will claim how busy his schedule is, and what little time he has to prepare (as a way to weasel out of debates & such)..and with Diebold et al in his pocket and that felons' list still in place, he will "win"...and so starts the presidential run of jebbie bush 2012..

The United States if dumb-america WANTS dynastic leadership, and the "trifecta" of bush presidents is so appealing to them, this MIGHT happen:(

19. A few weeks ago, I really thought Jeb would step into the Senate race.....
but now, my thinking is that if he did, and was successful, he would then find himself having to get along/wrangle with 99 other Senators. Jeb ain't cut out for the legislative branch, IMHO.

Jeb enjoys being *the executive* too much.

I think he will just bag the Senate race, write off a GOP Senate pickup this round, and get back to his devious plans for being named somebody's VP for '08 and beyond. He may not *run* in 08 for the Presidency, but I'm sure it would tickle him to move into Cheney's bunker in the interim.

But, then again, I've been wrong before.

33. Taking Cheney's spot seems the most likely to me
It's hard to imagine Cheney lasting all the way to '08. Once Dick is out of the way, Junior will need someone with proven leadership abilities, someone from outside the "beltway" he can trust to help lead the country in a time of war. After an exhaustive search, Junior will declare Jeb as the best person for the job. The rest of my scenario involves Jeb running with Dr. Condi in 'O8... but let's just hope none of this happens.

He's running in 2008. What other reason would he tour Iraq now? To visit with less than 400 FL National Guardsman? Unlikely.

HIs term expires this year. Wonder what national job big brother will give him to build up his national resume before 2008.

Send everyone else back home, while you man the Iraqi fort. Fair is fair. Besides, it will give us a chance to fumigate the governor's mansion in Tally a year ahead of schedule. Yeah, that's the (one-way) ticket (to Iraq).

29. Druggie and sluggie
Actually, both his sons have been arrested ... one for copulating in the backseat of a car at Gov's Sq Mall here in Tallahassee and the other for slugging a police officer last year. And of course, Noelle is so screwed up with drugs, you just have to pity her. After all she did manage to smuggle (a skill gained from her mommy no doubt) drugs into her rehab program ... and she still got to stay in. Had she not been named booooshie she'd be doing hard time somewhere. I'm not saying that should happen to her. But, considering their reprobate children, these boooshie's have no leg to stand on when they try to say they run on FAMILY VALUES. Yeah, lack there of.

28. Ahhhh, I'll move it here
Apparently the DU moderator didn't like my subject line on this same topic ... EASTER BUNNY - Prez Jeb Bush?? They called it a "duplicate" of this thread. I think my take on it is QUITE a bit different. But, since they decided to lock down my thoughts on this and make them unavailable (what a nice NAZI-Repug thing to do), I'll just repost it here, thank you very much. And in reply to those who'd asked question I wasn't allowed to reply to: 1.) No Jeb can't run again for guv, he's used up all his runs. 2.) There are two Democrats running - Jim Davis (I support him at this point) and Rod Smith. You can check out Jim Davis at www.jimdavis2006.com

Here's my recent post:

What a nightmare. I woke up and got my Easter Sunday newspaper to find Guv Jebbie Booosh's ugly mug above the fold in the headline story. They considered his visit to troops in Iraq headline material. With this buffoon's term as guv finally ending this year (Thank gawd! He has just about distroyed the state of Florida ... much as his brother has done to the country) he most definately has his eye on taking his brother's job. Now he is positioning himself as the heir apparent. Obviously reading polls isn't his strong suit ... or he'd know the booosh name has about as much value as a copper penny, probably less. This man, whose children have all been arrested for serious crimes, whose wife smuggled thousands of dollars worth of clothes in from Paris, who himself has been implicated in financial misdeeds prior to becoming guv, and who has used his office to push "privatization" (a code word used to suck money out of public treasury and into pockets of his good ol buddies) of as much as he can ... he obviously sees himself as the one who will continue to use the boooosh robbery skills to continue picking pocket's at a federal level beginning in 2009. If you have any doubts about this, remember Diebold is in their pocket ... our vote isn't likely to have much impact on the outcome. So, here's jebbet's message on Iraq. Quote from the fool, "I really feel it is important to be here at Easter." Why? Why on earth would anyone want him there, unless he suited up and volunteered as a soldier. And the hard copy on this was filled with a couple of pages of him "boots on the ground" with soldiers in Iraq. But, in "undisclosed locations". Hmmmm? These people have no shame ... they'll use anyone they can to get what they perceive as "positive press" ... I can still see him in those infamous photos of poor Teri Schiavo. Well, soldiers in Iraq are jebbit's new Teri:

21. Jeb says he's "armored up"
By STEVE BOUSQUET
St. Petersburg Times

TALLAHASSEE - Under top security, Gov. Jeb Bush is spending Easter in Iraq with troops from Florida, reuniting the governor with the National Guard soldiers who had helped out after hurricanes.

Bush planned to join troops for Easter religious services today before heading home. Accompanying him on the bipartisan mission were three other governors: fellow Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana and Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Tom Vilsack of Iowa, a potential 2008 presidential candidate.

Wearing an armored vest and helmet while flying on a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter, Bush visited seven military bases in Iraq and Kuwait as part of the Pentagon-sponsored mission at the request of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Bush said he was “armored up” for safety, but did not feel unsafe.

From the Dept. of the ARMY:

Dear Mrs. Barbra Bush,
We regret to inform you,

Your son is dead,
He won't be home,
He got it in the back at old Bagram,
Shot in the back with a two-two-five,
If he hadn't been running he'd still be alive.

A redux of an old Viet Nam ditty.
