MEXICO CITY, Mexico (UPI) -- A Mexican police officer was caught on video shooting at striking steel workers, El Universal newspaper reported Tuesday.

State prosecutors said they would investigate the incident from last week`s strike.

At least three people were killed and dozens more injured when Mexican authorities tried to break up a strike at the Sicartsa steel plant in the Pacific port city of Lazaro Cardenas, some 220 miles southwest of Mexico City.

Two workers died from police gunfire, while one officer was killed in the melee.
