Majority in Army Times poll think Rumsfeld should resign
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Majority_in_Army_Times_poll_think_0425.html

According to a poll at ArmyTimes.com, a majority of respondents believe that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld should resign, RAW STORY has found.

At the time of this writing, 2985 readers have voted in the latest Army Times poll (link), with 1,889 (63.28%) agreeing that the "U.S. war effort is grounds for Secretary Rumsfeld to resign."

996 (33.37%) voted no and 100 (3.35%) had no opinion.

In a poll taken shortly after reports of prison abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison came out in 2004, a plurality of readers agreed that Rumsfeld and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Gen. Richard Myers shouldn't keep their jobs "in light of the allegations." At the time, 3,644 (44.58%) thought they both should go, 3,644 (41.07%) said they should stay, and 739 responded that just Rumsfeld should go (9.04%).

Dang commie, lib terrorist sympathizers.

8. 54anickel, I responded in #7.
And by the way, I just threw on DIAMONDS AND RUST, my favorite recording of Baez's.

She and Joni Mitchell sing the hell out of "Dida" on that one.

7. I was joshin', and not asserting a truly-held belief.
Joan Baez' noble opposition to the VietNam war made her a lightning rod for pro-Nixon types in the 1960s and 70s.

I was pretending to borrow their voice to make the point that she was right and they were wrong then, and that blaming a liberal folk singer for Johnson's and Nixon's failures is a ridiculous, sexist position.

I guess I didn't do a very good job in the post.

9. Ahh, thanks. The ! at the end had me thinking you were joking about
something, but I wasn't sure if there wasn't more to it - if she's done another concert, released another song, did an appearance in the Green Zone of Iraq, etc, etc. Thought I was missing out on some Joan Baez news.

10. She's a powerhouse of integrity. I always thought so. My father felt
she was a socialist fool, but HIS father thought her recording of "Danny Boy" and 'I Dream of Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair" was the single best version of those songs he'd heard in his life.

Baez 2, reactionaries 1.

AActually she is doing pretty good as "the contessa" at the the dinner/cabaret feature in SF at Teatro Zinanni. Costs 100 plus per person to attend but worth it.

11. The most important
and most damaging part of this scenario is that the enlisted men have no respect for Rumsfailed. If you don't have any respect for your commander, your entire military is at risk.

Without the military, there is no war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush and Cheney may not need the American people, but they most CERTAINLY need the military. They desperately need them for their other plans of world domination.

"It's Mutiny on the Bounty, Captain Bligh".

Here's why Rumsfailed can't survive: I've read that officers are so disgusted with Rumsfailed that they are deliberately defying orders. Some of them don't give a crap any more because they hate him.

They have no choice: Rumsfailed has to go.

13. I just voted 3 times.
It's just another internet poll. Pretty meaningless.

On the other hand, Load it up and get your Jollies. It's fun. :D
