3. What's the story with Tommy Franks?
The survey also tests retired General Tommy Franks vs KH in the Republican Primary, and he comes out ahead. Has anyone heard about him contemplating a candidacy, or are the R's simply desparate?

16. desparate, IMO
I don't think Franks is seriously considering it. If anyone gets in, it will be Bense (but I've got my fingers crossed that no one will file).

6. Yea!!!
This is awesome. It'll be nice to watch her creap into well deserved obscurity. She deserves to be reviled and ostracized for what she's done.

Kate, your message obviously isn't getting out. You should do some more radio and TV interviews too.

At least Moxie and Spunk haven't deserted her, and won't you all feel like Grade A Schnooks when she pulls it out in November?

11. Palm Beach Posts remarks on would-be Senator Katherine Harris:
Harris tables ethics issues
Palm Beach Post Editorial

Sunday, April 30, 2006

Katherine Harris billed her recent campaign swing as a "bus tour." Must be the bus she keeps throwing her campaign under.

The Orlando Sentinel reported 10 days ago that, in 2005, Rep. Harris dined at a Washington restaurant with the man who later pleaded guilty to bribing former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif., and who gave Rep. Harris $32,000 in illegal contributions for her 2004 campaign. The bill, at Citronelle, was $2,800. For two. He paid.

At that dinner, the paper reported, Mitchell Wade talked about two things: sponsoring a fund-raiser for Rep. Harris and getting her help with a $10 million contract for his defense contracting company. Rep. Harris asked. The House refused.

At first, Rep. Harris didn't acknowledge that Wade had paid. Then she admitted to the Sentinel that he had. The cost, she said, was "news to me," even though her aide told the paper that he had discussed the bill with Rep. Harris. Then she said that her campaign had "reimbursed" the restaurant. The reporter asked how she could reimburse a restaurant that had been paid, and Rep. Harris ended the interview.

The next day, in a statement, Rep. Harris said she had thought the campaign reimbursed her share of the bill. But to whom? She said the bill was high because Wade had bought several bottlest of wine and took some home. Oops. Restaurant policy forbids that. Anyway, to clear things up, Rep. Harris would donate to charity $100 that would "adequately compensate for the cost of my beverage and appetizer."

12. Well, if Jeb is going to run
he'd better hurry because the deadline is May 10. If no one else steps up to the plate, then they OWN Miss Harris and they'd better shut up and endorse her.:smoke:

13. Jeb has already said "Hell no" to the Florida Senate race.

Link: http://www.tampabaylive.com/stories/2006/04/060407jeb.shtml

He said he is asked all the time about getting into the contest. What if his brother, President Bush, called? "No. (Even if) Pope Benedict calls," Bush responded. "I'm not doing it, trust me. I am not interested."

So if he does decide to run after all, he'll be starting off with a major flip-flop.

15. Nelson adds to campaign coffer, while Harris stumbles
Nelson adds to campaign coffer, while Harris stumbles
By Larry Lipman

Palm Beach Post Washington Bureau

Sunday, April 30, 2006

WASHINGTON — While U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris was campaigning in Gainesville nearly two weeks ago, Sen. Bill Nelson was in Kansas City raising money.

When Harris, a Republican from Longboat Key, went to Jacksonville and Tallahassee for campaign events, Nelson was in Miami, Atlanta, Little Rock and Dallas raising more money.

The events fattened Nelson's campaign war chest by about $200,000 in three days.

Such has been the reelection campaign for the incumbent Democrat from Brevard County: Keep a low campaign profile and raise a lot of money, while Harris' foundering campaign seeks its footing.
