Brown Quits Race For Senate (for Chaffee's RI seat)
PPROVIDENCE -- Matt Brown dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate on Wednesday, citing an inability to raise enough money to continue.

Brown, a Democrat, endorsed former state Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse, who still faces a primary challenge from Carl Sheeler.

Brown said he would not run for re-election as secretary of state.

Brown's campaign was nearly bankrupt and had been in a tailspin since he was accused of fundraising improprieties. Several staffers were laid off earlier this month.

6. Whitehouse has a real chance of winning.
Sheeler is a nice little fantasy that Chaffee would blow out of the water.

12. I don't agree.
Whitehouse is one more of the machine Democrats that I am tired of, and I'm not alone. Sheeler has a tough row to hoe, certainly, and part of that is that too many are eager to write him off. I personally am thrilled to have a real choice when it comes to the primary, and hope I have one in the general election too. If it comes to it I'll hold my nose and vote for Whitehouse, but Sheeler would represent me in DC.

Bill

7. see ya later
Eddie Haskell (aka Brown.)

Whitehouse is whipsmart.

Sheeler is a gem.

Chafee is a quirky eccentric who was the only Repug to vote against IWR.

Tough call for sure.

Glad the primary is 4-5 months away.

Aaaand oh joy. We use optical scans.

13. Welp the dude in charge of voting procedures is
none other than Eddie Haskell himself (aka Brown the current SOS) who only says, "Gee Mrs. Cleaver these machines are just dandy."

Arghhhhhhhhhh.

10. WHY aren't democrats trying to get Chafee to SWITCH PARTIES?
He's one of the most liberal senators in the nation, and he's facing tough opposition within his own party. Instead of trying to field a democrat who might lose against Chafee, we should be trying out hardest to get him to switch parties.

11. There is something wrong with the DNA of Republicans
Even the most tolerable among them are prone to destructive behaviour.

It is said that Truman made the observation that given the choice between a faux Democrat and a Republican, people will choose the Republican.

The reverse could be true as well, given the choice of a faux Republican and a Democrat, people will choose the real deal.
