Prosecutors May Widen Congressional-Bribe Case
Federal prosecutors are investigating whether two contractors implicated in the bribery of former Rep. Randall "Duke" Cunningham supplied him with prostitutes and free use of a limousine and hotel suites, pursuing evidence that could broaden their long-running inquiry.

Besides scrutinizing the prostitution scheme for evidence that might implicate contractor Brent Wilkes, investigators are focusing on whether any other members of Congress, or their staffs, may also have used the same free services, though it isn't clear whether investigators have turned up anything to implicate others.

In recent weeks, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents have fanned out across Washington, interviewing women from escort services, potential witnesses and others who may have been involved in the arrangement. In an interview, the assistant general manager of the Watergate Hotel confirmed that federal investigators had requested, and been given, records relating to the investigation and rooms in the hotel. But he declined to disclose what the records show. A spokeswoman for Starwood Inc., Westin's parent company, said she wasn't immediately able to get information on whether the Westin Grand had been contacted by investigators.

...Oh, there's more...

3. Of course not! Cunningham is a Republican and therefore a good
Christian. I'm sure he insisted on doing everything missionary style.

4. No pun intended, but
the FBI is paying lip service to government to make people think they are really working hard for us. I believe a "government investigation" is just another way to say cover up.

5. And what does "did" mean?
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 09:04 AM by zann725
More importantly,HOW MANY times & WITH WHO(S)"did" IT occur?

That single blue dress, by comparison, "pales" by far, me thinks.

Then again, different Party...different standards.

6. I love the way they identify Wilkes as a contractor
with no other explanation, like he's a simple builder of working class housing.

The fact is that he's the spider in a whole web of defense contractors, some of them that would seem to have little real purpose except to turn DOD tax dollars into RNC contributions.

Remember the name Mirror Corporation. Its sole function that anyone can determine was as a very small outfit that beta tested military and commercial software. All of a sudden during this regime their fortunes changed and they started getting huge defense contracts. Their work output did not increase, but their contributions to the RNC, right wing PACs and to Cunningham soared.

All this is part of the Delay investigation and has touched the Abramoff investigation, also.

21. Will Cunningham prove to be the only fall guy?
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 12:08 PM by American liberal
I sure hope not!

From WSJ article: "Mr. Wade told investigators that he had knowledge only of the service being provided to Mr. Cunningham, not anyone else, and has said he doesn't know whether Mr. Wilkes may have provided prostitutes or other free entertainment to anyone besides Mr. Cunningham."

You just KNOW there had to be more of those sleazebags involved. What's the Dem. buzz phrase: "Culture of Corruption," indeed. And the irony that some of this alleged misconduct took place at the Watergate is like the cherry on top of a hot fudge sundae that has been sprinkled with nut(job)s! These MFers are going DOWN (no pun itnended...really).
