Big Three auto leaders to meet Bush
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060427/pl_nm/autos_bush_dc_4

DETROIT (Reuters) - The chief executive officers of General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler unit will meet with President George W. Bush, a Ford spokesman said on Thursday.

A second person familiar with preparations for the meeting said it would be held on May 18 and would focus on alternative fuels, including ethanol, the high pension and health-care costs borne by the Detroit automakers and their concern on foreign exchange rates.

The White House had no comment on plans for a meeting, first reported by the New York Times based on an interview with Ford Chief Executive Bill Ford.

"We don't announce the president's schedule that far in advance," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

2. Yes, they are not there to discuss policy
They want a bigger piece of the government corporate welfare program.

3. Umm 'scuse me, but they are NOT the "big three" anymore
.
.
.

Toyota, Mitsubishi, Kia and the like are kicking their asses

Anyone remember Die Hard - the 1st one where the Japanese CEO told John, the cop that ended up fighting all the terrorists, played by Bruce Willis -(who by the way was born in Germany) - told John that "well, the USA got us with bombs, we got them with transistor radios"

And now the east is "doing" it to the USA with Cars, Computers, Clothing, and anything else that can be "off-shored"

They recognized the American greed, and now own trillions, - yeah TRILLIONS of dollars of USA debt

and are sucking up the USA market at an unprecedented rate.

All the nukes and belligerence can't save the USA

But some humility and taking care of their own people could

Wishful thinking

(sigh)

11. Is he charging them for the priviledge of meeting him?
You know, to meet with GW, you gotta pay the admission fee, just like Abramhoff's cronies do...
Just make sure the secret service pats those guys down first, as they're no love between GW and the UAW these days...
