Collier Co. seeks to blast for oil in Big Cypress

The demise of a $120 million buyout has Collier County's namesake family back in the hunt for new oil reserves beneath the Big Cypress National Preserve.
Collier Resources Co., an arm of a development and agriculture empire run by heirs of advertising magnate Barron Collier, has filed applications with the National Park Service and the state Department of Environmental Protection to conduct seismic tests for oil.
