Fabienne Nerac, who was given a personal promise by Powell over the affair in April, said she has been promised a letter from Powell -- in town for an EU-US meeting -- via the US embassy in Brussels.
"But I am a little disappointed because I think it would have been the least of civilities for him to have seen me even for five minutes, because the situation is unfortunately still the same," she told AFP.
Fred Nerac, 43, a French TV cameraman working for British network ITN, was in a convoy that came under fire, apparently from British or US forces, near Basra on March 22. Terry Lloyd, a veteran ITN correspondent was killed, and another journalist, Daniel Demoustier, was injured. But Nerac and a Lebanese interpreter, Hussein Osman, disappeared. snip
In April Nerac caused a scene when she stood up at a NATO press conference with Powell and asked him about the fate of her husband. Powell replied: "I give you my personal promise that we are working to find out what happened."
