(Xinhua) -- More than 500,000 children, or 12 percent of the minor population, are suffering from chronic malnutrition in Colombia, according to a report published on Thursday.

The report, published by the research center of University of Andes' Economics Faculty, said that 20 percent of the malnourished were poor.

The central Colombian province of Boyaca and the southeast province of Narino have the highest malnutrition rates, with 20 percent of their minors malnourished.

In Bogota, the capital city, the malnutrition rate runs at 15 percent.

Doesn't seem as if much of the billions sent to Colombia, making it third in line for foreign aid, right behind Israel and Egypt, is bringing forth any noticeable improvement in the lives of these citizens.

1. The money isn't for this!!!!
The money isn't being sent to feed the hungry, it's being sent to fight the war on drugs, at least in the case of Colombia.

With Israel and Egypt, most of the aid is for "defense" requirements, and in both countries you have people living in poverty and children going hungry.

2. what the person said above is correct. I agree and I also think
that sending donations to any government org. is akin to throwing the money out the window.

3. Columbia is still run out of Washington
Any money going to them is earmarked to military. Hopefully they'll elect a socialist government soon too and take back their resources.
