Texas Republicans boost DeLay's legal defense fund

Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Rep. Tom DeLay raised more money to pay legal fees after abandoning any effort to return as majority leader than he did in the immediate months following his indictment in Texas last year on money laundering charges.

DeLay, R-Texas, received lots of help in boosting his legal defense fund from Texas financiers of Republican causes, corporations and fellow members of Congress. But he spent as much as he raised during the first three months of 2006.

He raised $314,435 between January and March while awaiting trial on the Texas charges and spent $312,465, most of it on legal fees. In the previous three months, he raised $182,000 and spent $239,000.

One contributor was Houston home builder Bob Perry, the chief financial backer of Swift Boat Veterans of Truth, which campaigned against Democrat John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race. Perry and his wife Doylene contributed a total $10,000 to DeLay's legal fund.

9. Nutshell...
My hand is banged up and my glacialy slow and woefully inept keyboard skills are much the worst for it.

BJP was a perennial loser.

Failed as a preacher. Southern Baptists thought he was crazy. Low key, but crazy.

Fired as Assistant Coach (football) at Baylor University. Waco, Texas and a Baptist school. Players constantly complained about his proselytizing.

At the brink of personal financial disaster, BJP was handed his original chunk of his kingdom without cost and risk-free. Gilded path. Crazy in a very quiet scary way.

Hey Bobby Jack. Prick. I know you will see this sooner or later. You know where I am.

Fuck you

Tom

And hey, prick - I know someone is searching this thread. Fuck you, too.

Sorry, Erika, for getting off point. It's a long story.

8. Perry's also one of the financial backers of GOPUSA, Talon News, etc.
the outfit which sent "Jeff Gannon" to work as a White House "journalist."

He surely sounds like a true @$$hole, in a position of influence, among super colossal @$$holes.

5. People who are funding corruption
Let's remember these people:

Bob Perry of Swift Boat fame and Houston home builder (built my home) $10,000
James Leininger, a San Antonio doctor who gives lots and lots of money to candidates with very conservative agendas and who advocates vouchers in Texas ($10,000)
ex-Houston Mayor Bob Lanier ($5000)

Business who gave $5000:
Laser Shot Inc., a Stafford, Texas, producer of firearms simulators
BNSF Railway Co. of Topeka, Kan.
Panda Energy Management Inc. of Dallas; Maxxam Inc. of Houston
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. of North Carolina.

Losers. They are all willingly proudly contributing to the corruption in our government.

11. More likely Hush money.
Wouldn't surprise me if its RNC money being laundered through individual donors. DeLay knows where all the bodies are buried...the zRNC has to go to the mat for this guy, for their own self-preservation.

12. That could be, though I don't think ole Tom will sing...
more likely at least some of these donors want to help the defense prevent a full trial where their own names might come up in terms of donations and possible culpability in either knowingly going around state law per donations to trmpac or in their own wilkes/wadesque type bribery schemes (as in pay to play on steroids) - in which case I think these donations might be attempts at CYA. Or - perhaps instead a belief that ole Tom will beat the rap, and in two years reclaim his power in COngress (dream on!) and they want to be rewarded with govt largesse for being loyal at this point in time.

If he can shave time I think he'd sing. I'll bet his trial lawyer enjoys the billing part. :-)

15. Should I send some money to the prosecution team? After all,
the prosecutors are trying to keep dangerous criminals like Delay off the street, and I want the kids to be safe from that awful man known as the "Hammer" and the "Bugman".

Maybe we could take up a collection.
